Jean-René Germanier (born 12 December 1958) is a Swiss politician. He was first elected to the National Council for the canton of Valais. He was subsequently elected President of the National Council in 2010. Germanier is an oenologist Oenology (also enology; ) is the science and study of wine and winemaking. The Federal Assembly, also known as the Swiss Parliament, is the federal bicameral parliament of Switzerland. It comprises the 200-seat National Council and the 46-seat Council of States. It meets in Bern in the Federal Palace. The houses have identical powers. Hansjörg Walter (born 5 February 1951, in Frauenfeld) is a Swiss politician of the Swiss People's Party. He was a member of the Swiss National Council for the canton of Thurgau (1999–2017) and president of the Swiss Farmers' Union (2000–2012). Walter served as the President of the National Council (2011–2012). Biography Walter graduated from the Agricultural School Strickhof and underwent advanced agricultural and commercial training.
