Jean-Lucien Savi De Tové
Jean-Lucien Kwassi Lanyo Savi de Tové (born 7 May 1939) is a Togolese politician who has served as the fifth president of Togo since 2025. He was previously the Minister of Trade, Industry and Handicrafts in the governments of Edem Kodjo and Yawovi Agboyibo from 2005 to 2007. A former opposition leader, Savi de Tové was imprisoned several times during the presidency of Gnassingbé Eyadéma before joining the government. In the 2007 parliamentary election, he was a candidate for the National Assembly, but then lost. In December of that year, he was dismissed from the government. In May 2025, Savi de Tové was unanimously elected the president by the National Assembly following a 2024 constitutional reform which changed the way the president is elected from direct popular vote to being indirectly elected by the National Assembly. Excellency
Excellency is an honorific style (manner of address), style given to certain high-level officers of a sovereign state, officials of an international organization, or members of an aristocracy. Once entitled to the title "Excellency", the holder usually retains the right to that courtesy throughout their lifetime, although in some cases the title is attached to a particular office and is held only during tenure of that office. Generally people addressed as ''Excellency'' are heads of state, heads of government, governors, ambassadors, Roman Catholic bishops, high-ranking ecclesiastics, and others holding equivalent rank, such as heads of international organizations.
