Jean-François Michael
Yves Roze, better known as Jean-François Michael (born 16 April 1946) is a French singer. Between 1963 and 1968, he sang under his birth name Yves Roze. In 1968, Michel Berger (under his real name Michel Hamburger) wrote "Adieu jolie Candy" that was a hit for Jean-François Michael. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a music recording sales certification, gold disc. Under the new name Jean-François Michael, sometimes written with a Diaeresis (diacritic), diaeresis on the "e" in Michael, as in Jean-François Michaël, he released three albums between 1968 and 1972, and a number of singles, but struck by a grave illness, he abandoned his musical career. He came back in 1975, but as a music director and record producer. "Adieu jolie Candy" is a French song written by Alain Boublil and Michel Hursel (the latter a pseudonym of Michel Berger, and music was composed by Raymond Jeannot. It became a successful single for Jean-François Michael (stage name of singer Yves Rose) in 1969 and was released on the Barclay Records label. It was a hit in France and internationally for Jean-François Michael topping both the French and the Belgian singles charts. Disques Vogue was a jazz record company founded in France by Léon Cabat and Charles Delaunay in 1947, the year after the American Vogue label ceased. They originally specialized in jazz, featuring American performers such as Sidney Bechet, Dizzy Gillespie, and Gigi Gryce (sessions reissued on CD under Clifford Brown's name), in addition to local musicians Django Reinhardt and Martial Solal. Diaeresis ( ) is a diacritical mark consisting of two dots () that indicates that two adjacent vowel letters are separate syllables a vowel hiatus (also called a diaeresis) rather than a digraph or diphthong. It consists of a two dots diacritic placed over a letter, generally a vowel.
