Jean-François Berdah
Jean-François Berdah is associate professor at the Department of History at the University of Toulouse II - Le Mirail (since 1998). Biography Jean-François Berdah was born in Paris in 1961. He first studied at the University of Paris X Nanterre (1981–1985), at the University of Göttingen (1983–1984), at the European Institute of High International Studies in Strasbourg (IHEE) (1987–1988) and finally at the Casa de Velázquez (Institute for High Hispanic Studies, Madrid) (1992–1994). He held DAAD scholarships in 1983–1984 and 1988, and promoted in 1996 at Paris 12 Val de Marne University. He was elected at the University of Toulouse II - Le Mirail in 1998. His lectures are focused on Modern European history (19th–20th century), and more specifically on the history of European peripheries in a comparative perspective. The Spanish Civil War () was a military conflict fought from 1936 to 1939 between the Republican faction (Spanish Civil War), Republicans and the Nationalist faction (Spanish Civil War), Nationalists. Republicans were loyal to the Left-wing politics, left-leaning Popular Front (Spain), Popular Front government of the Second Spanish Republic.
