Jay Chapman (soccer)
Jay Tyler Chapman (born January 1, 1994) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays for USL Championship club Colorado Springs Switchbacks. Early career Chapman spent two years at TFC Academy, before leaving to play at Michigan State University. During his final year, Chapman was named as a First Team All-American, the first Spartan to achieve first team honours since 1970. Chapman was also a 2014 MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist, and Big Ten Midfielder of the Year. In 2012, he signed with SC Toronto of the Canadian Soccer League, and made his debut on May 11, 2012, in a match against St. Catharines Wolves, and recorded his first goal for the club in a 5–0 victory. Toronto Football Club (commonly known as Toronto FC or TFC) is a Canadian professional soccer club based in Toronto. Toronto FC Academy, also known as TFC Academy, is the youth academy and development system of Canadian Major League Soccer club Toronto FC. The academy has divisions from U14 to U19 and includes over 110 young players. The senior academy team is known as Toronto FC III. History The TFC Academy's U-18 squad began playing in the Canadian Soccer League in 2008, with the U-16 squad competing in the CSL Reserve Division as TFC Academy II. The Scottish Premiership, known as the cinch Premiership for sponsorship reasons, is the top division of the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL), the league competition for men's professional football clubs in Scotland. The Scottish Premiership was established in July 2013, after the SPFL was formed by a merger of the Scottish Premier League and Scottish Football League. Jordan Patrick Dear Hamilton (born March 17, 1996) is a Canadian soccer player who plays as a forward for Canadian Premier League club Forge FC. Playing career Youth Hamilton started playing with North Scarborough SC, before switching to Ajax SC. He made his U14 Ontario Provincial debut at the U14 All-Star Championships in Sherbrooke, Quebec. The 2015 Canadian Championship (officially the Amway Canadian Championship for sponsorship reasons) was a soccer tournament hosted and organized by the Canadian Soccer Association. It was the eighth edition of the annual Canadian Championship, and took place in the cities of Edmonton, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver in 2015. The participating teams were Ottawa Fury FC and FC Edmonton of the North American Soccer League, the second-level of the Canadian Soccer Pyramid, and Montreal Impact, Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC of Major League Soccer, the first-level of Canadian club soccer. The Charleston Battery are an American professional association football, soccer club based in Charleston, South Carolina, and member of the USL Championship. Homegrown Player Rule (Major League Soccer)
The Homegrown Player Rule is a Major League Soccer program that allows MLS teams to sign local players from their own development academies directly to MLS first team rosters. Before the creation of the rule in 2008, every player entering Major League Soccer would have to be assigned through one of the existing MLS player allocation processes, such as the MLS SuperDraft. MLS roster rules allow a team to sign players to contracts similar to Generation adidas contracts, which do not count against the MLS salary budget and may earn a much higher salary than the league minimum. MLS has since removed this wording from the roster rules. That means homegrown players will not count against the salary budget only if they are registered using supplemental roster slots, but will still count against the salary budget if they are registered using senior roster slots.
