Javier Aguirre Onaindía
Javier Aguirre Onaindía (; born 1 December 1958), nicknamed ''El Vasco'' (The Basque), is a Mexican football manager and former footballer who played as a midfielder. He is currently manager of the Mexico national team. Aguirre played for Mexico in the 1986 World Cup. He's now in his third managerial stint with the team; he'd previously coached them to the World Cup in 2002 and 2010. He also won the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup and led them to the final of the 2001 Copa América. Later, he managed Japan and Egypt. At club level, Aguirre led six clubs in Spain's La Liga. He finished fourth with Osasuna in 2006 and Atlético Madrid in 2008. He took Atlético and Mallorca to Copa del Rey finals, losing in 2005 and 2024 respectively. He also won the CONCACAF Champions League with Monterrey in 2021. CONCACAF Champions League
The CONCACAF Champions Cup, formerly known as CONCACAF Champions League (2008–2023), is an international association football competition organized by CONCACAF as its top continental tournament for clubs from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. The champions automatically qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup. The tournament currently uses a knockout format; it had a group stage prior to the 2018 edition. 2024 Copa Del Rey Final
The 2024 Copa del Rey final was a football match to decide the winners of the 2023–24 Copa del Rey, the 122nd edition of Spain's primary football cup (including two seasons where two rival editions were played). The match was played on 6 April 2024 at Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville between Athletic Bilbao and Mallorca. Mallorca played in their first final since their only victory in 2003, having lost twice prior. This was Athletic Bilbao's 40th final, having last appeared in the final in 2021, and its last victory was in 1984. Following a 1–1 draw after extra time, Athletic Bilbao won 4–2 on penalties to secure a 24th Copa del Rey title, ending a 40-year major trophy drought. 1986 FIFA World Cup
The 1986 FIFA World Cup was the 13th FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial Association football, football tournament for men's senior national teams. It was played in Mexico from 31 May to 29 June 1986. The tournament was the second to feature a 24-team format. Colombia had been originally chosen to host the competition by FIFA but, largely due to economic reasons, was not able to do so, and resigned in November 1982.
