Marcelo Méndez (volleyball)
Marcelo Rodolfo Méndez (born 20 June 1964) is an Argentine professional volleyball coach and former player, playing as a middle blocker during his career. He serves as head coach for the Argentina men's national volleyball team, Argentina national team and the Polish PlusLiga team, Jastrzębski Węgiel. Personal life Marcelo Méndez was born in Buenos Aires and began playing volleyball at the age of 12. He married his wife, María Livia in 1988, and has two sons who are playing volleyball professionally, Nicolás Méndez, Nicolás and Juan. Career As a coach In 2004, Marcelo Méndez became an assistant coach of the Spanish team, CV Pòrtol, and the head coach of the same club in 2005. Michał Jarosław Kubiak (born 23 February 1988) is a Polish professional volleyball player who plays as an outside hitter for Shanghai Bright. He is a former member of the Poland national team, a participant in the Olympic Games (London 2012, Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020), two–time World Champion (2014, 2018), and the 2012 World League winner. Personal life Michał Kubiak was born in Wałcz, Poland. He has an older brother Błażej, who is also a volleyball player. He is married to Monika. On 23 February 2014 (Kubiak's 26th birthday) their daughter Pola was born. They also have a second child. The 2008–09 CEV Challenge Cup was the 29th edition of the European Challenge Cup volleyball club tournament, the former CEV Cup. FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship
The FIVB Men's Volleyball Club World Championship is an international men's club volleyball competition organised by the ''Fédération Internationale de Volleyball'' (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The competition was first contested in 1989 in Italy. It was not held between 1993 and 2008, but since 2009, the competition has been held every year, and has been hosted by Qatar and Brazil except in 2017 and 2018 where both hosted by Poland. The current champions are Brazil's Sada Cruzeiro, who defeated Italy's Trentino Itas (3–1) in the final of the 2024 and won their fifth title of the competition. Italian teams have been the most successful, with twelve titles, and in all editions but 2015, at least one Italian team take part in the event.
