Jaroslav Nedvěd
Jaroslav Nedvěd (born September 24, 1969) is a Czech former professional ice hockey defenceman. He is currently an assistant coach for HC Sparta Praha of the Czech Extraliga. He is the older brother of Petr Nedvěd. Early career Nedvěd started his professional hockey career with IHC Písek and HC Liberec before joining HC Sparta Prague in 1990 for one season. He then spent two seasons with HC Olomouc, scoring 26 points in 41 games in his final season. IHL and ECHL Nedvěd spent the 1993-94 season in the United States, playing 44 games in the International Hockey League with the Cincinnati Cyclones and 2 games in the East Coast Hockey League with the Birmingham Bulls. Return to Europe Nedvěd would return to the Czech Extraliga for a second spell with Sparta Prague for the next four seasons. Defenceman (ice Hockey)
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). Russian Superleague
The Russian Superleague (, ''Russian Championship Superleague''), commonly abbreviated as RSL, was the highest division of the main professional ice hockey league in Russia. It was considered the second-best league in the world, after the National Hockey League (NHL) of North America. It was a part of the Russian Pro Hockey League which was composed of three divisions — the Superleague, Major League (''Vysshaya Liga''), and First League (''Pervaya Liga''). SM-liiga
The Liiga, colloquially called the Finnish Elite League in English or FM-ligan in Swedish, is the top professional ice hockey league in Finland. The league comprises 16 teams from all around Finland with relegation and promotion between the Mestis. The winner of the Liiga playoffs is awarded the Kanada-malja at the end of each season. Teams from the Liiga participate in the IIHF's annual Champions Hockey League (CHL), competing for the European Trophy. Participation is based on the strength of the various leagues in Europe (excluding the European/Asian Kontinental Hockey League). Birmingham Bulls (WHA)
The Birmingham Bulls were a professional ice hockey team based in Birmingham, Alabama. They played in the World Hockey Association from 1976 to 1979 and the Central Hockey League from 1979 to 1981. The Bulls played their home games at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Center. Prior to being in Birmingham, the team was known as the Ottawa Nationals and the Toronto Toros. ECHL
The ECHL (formerly the East Coast Hockey League) is a minor professional ice hockey league based in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, with teams across the United States and Canada. Competitively, it is a tier below the American Hockey League (AHL). The league serves as a farm system to the AHL and National Hockey League (NHL). The ECHL and the AHL are the only minor leagues recognized by the collective bargaining agreement between the NHL and the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA), meaning any player signed to an entry-level NHL contract and designated for assignment must report to a club in either the ECHL or the AHL. IHC Písek
IHC Králové Písek is an ice hockey team in Písek, Czech Republic. They play in the Second Ice Hockey League, in the Czech Republic (third -level ice hockey league). History IHC Písek was established in 1990. by merging the clubs VTJ Písek and JITEX Písek as VTJ JITEX Písek In 1994, The club advanced to the Czech 1.liga, which he played until 2005. In the 2004-05 season, he failed in the blending playoffs and relegated to Czech 2.liga. In the 2009-10 season, the club won promotion to the Czech 1.liga after 5 years. Following season 2010-11 the team finished the last place after the superstructure part and unsuccessful play-off for the 1st league, where the whole team took the last 5th place and they relegated again.
