Jarmila Bělíková
Jarmila Bělíková (April 27, 1948 – May 6, 2010) was a Czechs, Czech psychologist, Activism, activist, and Translation, translator. She was born in Brno. She studied medicine and during the 1970s worked in a treatment centre for female Alcoholism, alcoholics. She then worked as a Social work, social worker specializing in the Romani people, Roma issue. Bělíková was a signer of Charter 77 and a founder of Committee for the Defense of the Unjustly Prosecuted, VONS, the committee for the defence of the unjustly accused. In May 1979, she was arrested and imprisoned for seven months under the Communist state, communist regime in Czechoslovakia. She returned to work as a psychologist in 1989. During the 1980s, with Olga Havlová, she established an association that published dissident books. In 2001, she was awarded the Czech Medal of Merit (Czech Republic), Medal of Merit. Medal Of Merit (Czech Republic)
The Medal of Merit () is an award of the Czech Republic which comes in three grades, the First Grade being the highest. It is awarded to people for service to the Republic in a number of different public areas, including: “the economy, science, technology, culture, arts, sports, enlightenment and education, defense and security of the state and the people”. The medal was designed by Jiří Harcuba. Appearance The insignia composes of a simple breast ribbon, primarily yellow-gold in color, and a medal. The ribbon has thin violet stripe(s) running the vertical length of the ribbon; the number of stripes indicates the grade of the medal: a single stripe indicates the highest grade, while three stripes mark the lowest grade.
