Jardinópolis, São Paulo
Jardinópolis is a municipality in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, in the outskirts of Ribeirão Preto. The population is 45,282 (2022 est.) in an area of 502 km2. It is 590 m above sea level. Jardinópolis is known as an important distribution center of mangoes in Brazil. The town hosts the "Festa do Senhor Bom Jesus da Lapa" (The Kind Hearted Jesus of Lapa's celebration) religious event, which takes place every year between July 28 and August 6. Antônio Da Silva Jardim
Antônio da Silva Jardim (18 August 1860 — 1 July 1891) was a Brazilian lawyer and journalist. He was a political activist in the abolitionist and republican movements, particularly in Rio de Janeiro state. Early life He was born in Vila de Nossa Senhora da Lapa de Capivari, which later changed its name to commemorate him. He was the son of Gabriel da Silva Jardim and Felismina Leopoldina de Mendonça. His father was a humble teacher in Capivara. Antônio was sent to Niterói to study, initially at the Colégio Silva Pontes. In 1874 he enrolled at the Colégio de São Bento, where he studied Portuguese, French, geography and Latin. He also helped found a student magazine which provided the starting point for his political life and his campaign for liberty. His family’s lack of financial resources eventually compelled him to move lodgings and enrol in the Jasper school. Laura Motta (21 June 1919 – 13 February 2014), better known as "Irmã Laura", was a Brazilian people, Brazilian Nun, catholic nun member of the Sisters of Saint Marcelina.
