Japan National Under-19 Cricket Team
The Japan Under-19 cricket team represents Japan in Under-19 cricket players at the international level. Outside of the ICC full-member nations, under-19 international cricket is generally limited to tournament play, and outside of global events (run by the International Cricket Council), Japan’s involvement has been relatively limited, only dating back to 2007, where they participated in the East Asia-Pacific Regional Under-19 qualifier for the first time. They qualified for their maiden Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2020 after winning the EAP Qualifier Division One. The team has qualified for the 2026 edition. History The 2007 East Asia-Pacific Regional Qualifier was Japan’s first involvement in an ICC event at Under-19 level, having become an associate member nation in 2005. Japan Cricket Association
Japan Cricket Association, a Japanese non-profit organization, is the governing body for cricket in Japan. It was originally formed in 1984 and registered as NPO in 2001. The Association operates the Japan national cricket team and the Japan women's national cricket team, and organises domestic cricket in Japan. It has been an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council since 2005, belonging to the East-Asia Pacific region, under the International Cricket Council's development program and in 2024, rejoined as a member of the Asian Cricket Council. 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup
The 2018 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was an international limited-overs cricket tournament held in New Zealand from 13 January till 3 February 2018. It was the twelfth edition of the U19 World Cup, and the third to be held in New Zealand after the 2002 and the 2010 events. New Zealand became the first country to host the event thrice. The opening ceremony took place on 7 January 2018. The West Indies were the defending champions. However, they failed to defend their title, after losing their first two group fixtures. Following the group stage fixtures, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa had all qualified for the Super League quarter-final stage of the tournament. The other eight teams moved to the Plate League to determine their final placements in the competition. The 2024 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup was the eleventh edition of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, a limited overs cricket tournament featuring eight Under-19 teams. It played from 29 November to 8 December 2024. The five full members of the Asian Cricket Council took part in the tournament: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, along with the top three ranked teams from the qualifiers round, Japan, Nepal and UAE. 2023 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup was the tenth edition of the ACC Under-19 Cup, a limited overs cricket tournament featuring eight under-19 teams. It was scheduled to played between 8 and 17 December 2023. The five full members of the Asian Cricket Council are taking part in the tournament: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
