Japan Golf Tour
The Japan Golf Tour () is a prominent professional golf tour. It was founded in 1973 and as of 2006, it offered the third-highest annual prize fund out of the regular (that is not for seniors) men's professional tours after the PGA Tour and the European Tour. However, since the early 1990s, the growth in prize money has not kept pace with that on the two larger tours. Official events on the Japan Golf Tour count for Official World Golf Ranking points and success on the tour can also qualify members to play in the majors. Most of the leading players on the tour are Japanese, but players from many other countries also participate. The tour is currently run by the Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO), which was established in 1999 to separate the tour from the PGA of Japan. Masashi Ozaki
is a Japanese professional golfer. Ozaki is often known as Jumbo Ozaki (ジャンボ尾崎 ''Janbo Ozaki'') on account of his height and length off the tee. He featured in the top ten of the Official World Golf Rankings for almost 200 weeks between 1989 and 1998. He is the most successful player of all time on the Japan Golf Tour, having led the money list a record 12 times and won 94 tournaments, over 40 more than the second highest player. Ozaki was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2011. Early life Ozaki was born in Kaifu District, Tokushima. Professional career Ozaki was a professional baseball pitcher/outfielder from 1965 to 1967 with the Nishitetsu Lions. OneAsia Tour
The OneAsia Tour was a men's professional golf tour based in the Asia-Pacific region. The tour was founded in 2009 as a joint venture between the PGA Tour of Australasia, the China Golf Association, the Korean Golf Association and the Korean PGA. The Japan Golf Tour was invited to participate in the project in 2012 and had co-sanctioned the Indonesia Open, Indonesia PGA Championship and Thailand Open. The OneAsia Tour was seen as a rival to the longer established Asian Tour, with which it had poor relations. From 2010 to 2017, tournaments on the OneAsia Tour were awarded Official World Golf Ranking points. Having had a ten tournament schedule in each of its first few seasons, the tour's fortunes began to decline. Yūsaku Miyazato
is a Japanese professional golfer. In 2006 he became the first modern-era golfer to make two hole in one shots in the same round of a PGA Tour event, at the Reno-Tahoe Open in Nevada. Early life and amateur career Miyazato was born in Higashi, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. He attended Tohoku Fukushi University, and won the Japanese collegiate championship in 2000, and the Japanese Amateur Championship in 2001. Shugo Imahira
Shugo Imahira (born 2 October 1992) is a Japanese professional golfer. He has played full-time on the Japan Golf Tour since 2015 and has won 10 times on the tour, between 2017 and 2024. He was the leading money winner in 2018 and 2019. Japan Challenge Tour Imahira won twice on the 2014 Japan Challenge Tour en route to winning the season money list title. The 2019 Japan Golf Tour was the 47th season of the Japan Golf Tour (formerly the PGA of Japan Tour), the main professional golf tour in Japan since it was formed in 1973. Chan Kim (born March 24, 1990) is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour. He formerly played on the Japan Golf Tour, where he won eight times, and the Korn Ferry Tour, where he won twice. Early life Kim was born in Suwon, South Korea, but grew up in Hawaii. Amateur career Kim played his college golf at Arizona State University. He won the 2009 Pacific Coast Amateur. He was also a two-time winner of the Arizona Stroke Play Championship. The 2020–21 Japan Golf Tour was the 48th season of the Japan Golf Tour (formerly the PGA of Japan Tour), the main professional golf tour in Japan since it was formed in 1973. In-season changes The 2020 season was originally scheduled to be played from 16 January to 6 December 2020, consisting of 25 official events. However, most of the scheduled tournaments were cancelled during 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. Kazuki Higa (, born 23 April 1995) is a Japanese professional golfer. He has won six times on the Japan Golf Tour, as well as topping the money list in 2022. Professional career Higa attended Tohoku Fukushi University and turned professional in late 2017. Since turning professional, he has played primarily on the Japan Golf Tour. His first win was at the 2019 RIZAP KBC Augusta. The 2022 Japan Golf Tour was the 49th season of the Japan Golf Tour (formerly the PGA of Japan Tour), the main professional golf tour in Japan since it was formed in 1973. Response to LIV Golf Following a statement produced by the Japan Golf Tour Organization on 1 October 2022, they outlined their position in regards to the ongoing dispute between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour and their alliance; the European Tour (DP World Tour). They stated that it would be beneficial to the Japan Golf Tour that they remained in a neutral position. However, they also came to the conclusion that they could potentially be better off siding with the PGA Tour, giving players in Asia a pathway to playing opportunities in the United States, as the Asian Tour has already struck an amicable relationship with LIV Golf, giving their players playing opportunities in the LIV Golf League via the International Series. Keita Nakajima
Keita Nakajima (, born 24 June 2000) is a Japanese professional golfer. He had an exceptionally successful amateur career and was number 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking for a record 87 weeks. He also won the Panasonic Open on the Japan Golf Tour while still an amateur. Amateur career Nakajima started playing golf at six and had a successful amateur career, winning the 2018 Australian Amateur and the 2021 Japan Amateur Championship, after finishing runner-up at the event in 2015, 2017 and 2019. He was runner-up at the 2017 Duke of York Young Champions Trophy in England and the 2019 Australian Master of the Amateurs.
