Janusz Iwański
Janusz Henryk Iwański, best known as Yanina, (April 22, 1956 in Częstochowa) is a Polish jazz and rock guitarist, composer, songwriter and vocalist. He has performed with the groups Tie Break (jazz ensemble), Tie Break, Soyka Yanina, and Maanam. Since 2007 he has been playing with the rock group, The Goodboys. Biography He began as a musician in 1970 but in 1976 at the Jazz Jamboree, he heard artists such as Gil Evans, Benny Goodman, Muddy Waters and many others, took up the study of jazz itself. He has cited Miles Davis as an influence. As he became interested in jazz he formed the Tie Break (jazz ensemble), Tie Break with bassist Krzysztof Majchrzak, soon joined by flute player Grzegorz Chmielecki. He has performed in countries such as Poland, Mexico, USA, Sweden, Denmark, Canada, Germany, Russia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Austria, Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Georgia and others including in his native Częstochowa with over 3000 gigs in total. Umbria Jazz Festival
The Umbria Jazz Festival, directed by Carlo Pagnetta, is one of the most important jazz festivals in the world and has been held annually since 1973. Today, the summer festival runs for 10 days in Perugia, capital of Umbria. Zbigniew Preisner
Zbigniew Preisner (; born 20 May 1955 as Zbigniew Antoni Kowalski) is a Polish film score composer, best known for his work with film director Krzysztof Kieślowski. He is the recipient of the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis as well as the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. He is a member of the Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma, French Film Academy. Life Zbigniew Preisner was born in Bielsko-Biała, southern Poland, and studied history and philosophy at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Never having received formal music lessons, he taught himself music by listening and transcribing parts from vinyl record, records. His compositional style represents a distinctively sparse form of tonality, tonal neo-Romanticism. Paganini and Jean Sibelius are acknowledged influences. Tomasz Stańko
Tomasz Ludwik Stańko (; 11 July 1942 – 29 July 2018) was a Polish trumpeter and composer associated with free jazz and the avant-garde. In 1962, Tomasz Stańko formed his first band, the Jazz Darings, with saxophonist Janusz Muniak, pianist Adam Makowicz, bassist Jacek Ostaszewski, drummer Wiktor Perelmuter. Inspired by Ornette Coleman and the innovations of John Coltrane, Miles Davis and George Russell (composer), George Russell, the group is often cited by music historians as the first European group to play free jazz. In his later years, he collaborated with pianist Krzysztof Komeda on Komeda's album ''Astigmatic (album), Astigmatic'', recorded in late 1965.
