Jannatul Ferdous (politician)
Jannatul Ferdous ( – 1 February 2012) was a Bangladeshi teacher and politician from Pabna belonging to the Bangladesh Awami League. She was a member of the Jatiya Sangsad. Biography Ferdous was an assistant teacher of Pabna Government Girls' High School. Later, she joined Pabna Government Women's College and worked there from 1974 to 1995. She was elected as a member of the Jatiya Sangsad from Reserved Women's Seat-5 in the June 1996 Bangladeshi general election. Ferdous was married to Amjad Hossain. Amjad Hossain ( – 22 March 2015) was a Bangladeshi lawyer and politician from Pabna belonging to Bangladesh Awami League. He was a member of the Jatiya Sangsad. Biography Hossain was an organizer of the Liberation War of Bangladesh. After liberation he was elected as a member of the Jatiya Sangsad from Pabna-12 in 1973. Pabna District () is a district in west central Bangladesh. It is a geographically and economically important district. Its administrative capital is the eponymous Pabna town. The main five rivers of this district are: Padma, Jamuna, Baral, Atrai and Chiknai. Pabna Government Girls High School () is one of the oldest secondary schools in Pabna District, Bangladesh. The school provides education from class Three to class Ten (SSC). It has two shifts - morning and day. The morning shift starts from 7.30 am and day shift from 12.30 pm. It is a girls school but has both male and female teachers. Snap general elections were held in Bangladesh on 12 June 1996. They were called following the controversial February 1996 elections, which were boycotted by the opposition and saw a turnout of just 21%.
