Janka Čulíková
Janka Čulíková (born 30 June 1987 in Martin, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovakian ice hockey forward. International career Čulíková was selected for the Slovakia national women's ice hockey team in the 2010 Winter Olympics. She played in all five games, leading the team with two goals and three points. She played all three games of the qualifying campaign for the 2014 Olympics. Čulíková has also appeared for Slovakia at eight IIHF Women's World Championships, across three levels. Her first appearance came in 2004. Forward (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a forward is a player, and a position on the ice, whose primary responsibility is to score and assist goals. Generally, the forwards try to stay in three different lanes of the ice from goal to goal. It is not mandatory, however, to stay in a lane. Staying in a lane aids in forming the common offensive strategy known as a triangle. One forward obtains the puck and then the forwards pass it between themselves making the goalie move side to side. This strategy opens up the net for scoring opportunities. This strategy allows for a constant flow of the play, attempting to maintain the control of play by one team in the offensive zone. The forwards can pass to the defence players playing at the Blue line (ice hockey), blue line, thus freeing up the play and allowing either a shot from the point (blue line position where the defence stands) or a pass back to the offence. The 2013 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I consisted of two international ice hockey tournaments organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Division I A and Division I B represent the second and third tier of the IIHF Women's World Championship.
