Jan Čuřík
Jan Čuřík (1 November 1924 – 4 December 1996) was a Czech cinematographer whose work was featured in many Czechoslovak films. Biography Jan Čuřík was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia. He began working as a camera assistant in Krátký film Praha. Later he filmed short films and documentaries for the Army. In 1958, he served as cameraman for Zbyněk Brynych's '' Suburban Romance'', which was Czechoslovakia's entry in the 1958 Cannes Film Festival. He often worked with director Jaromil Jireš, and was the cinematographer for many of his most popular films, including '' The Joke'', and '' Valerie and her Week of Wonders''. He also frequently worked with Zbyněk Brynych and Karel Kachyňa. In 1961, he worked on ''The Gleiwitz Case'' in East Germany. In 1966, he co-directed ''Searching'' with Antonín Máša. The White Dove (1960 Film)
''The White Dove'' () is a 1960 Czechoslovak film directed by František Vláčil. It is Vláčil's first full-length film. Plot The film is based on the short story "Susanne" by Otakar Kirchner: a dove belongs to a German girl, Susanne. The dove gets lost on its way from France to the Baltic Sea and ends up in Prague. The dove is shot by a crippled boy, Michal. It is found by a sculptor, Martin, who brings it to Michal. Michal helps the dove to recover and he befriends Martin. Martin finds from where the dove comes and sends there a picture of the bird. Susanne, is sad from the dove's absence but realises that the dove will return. Michal recovers together with the dove but does not want to give her up. Martin eventually convinces Michal to release the dove. Chicago International Film Festival
The Chicago International Film Festival is an annual film festival held every fall. Founded in 1964 by Michael Kutza, it is the longest-running competitive film festival in North America. Its logo is a stark, black and white close up of the composite eyes of early film actresses Theda Bara, Pola Negri, and Mae Murray, set as repeated frames in a strip of film. In 2010, the 46th Chicago International Film Festival presented 150 films from more than 50 countries. The Festival's program is composed of many different sections, including the International Competition, New Directors Competition, Docufest, Black Perspectives, Cinema of the Americas, and Reel Women. The Day That Shook The World
''The Day That Shook the World'' (, lit. ''The Sarajevo Assassination'') is a 1975 Czechoslovak-Yugoslav-German co-production film directed by Veljko Bulajić, starring Christopher Plummer and Florinda Bolkan. The film is about the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie in Sarajevo in 1914 and the immediate aftermath that led to the outbreak of World War I. When the only surviving heir to Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria-Hungary, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, was killed by Gavrilo Princip, a Yugoslav nationalist, on 28 June 1914, his death set in motion a chain of events that resulted in the First World War. The movie chronicles the events surrounding that death and its aftermath.
