Jan Jirásek (born 1955 in Rychnov nad Kněžnou) is a Czech composer. Czech composer Jan Jirásek studied composition with Prof. Zdenek Zouhar at the Janáček Academy of Musical Art in Brno (JAMU). He worked as music editor and producer at the Czech Radio. He was awarded prestigious film music prize The Czech Lion Award for the film '' Wild Flowers'' by F. A. The Janáček Academy of Performing Arts (; abbreviation in Czech: JAMU) is a public university with an artistic focus in Brno, Czech Republic. It was established in 1947 and consists of two faculties: the Faculty of Music and the Faculty of Theater. Czech Radio (, ČRo) is the public radio broadcaster of the Czech Republic operating continuously since 1923. ''Wild Flowers'' () is a Czech drama film released in 2000. It was directed by F. A. Brabec and based on seven of thirteen poems from ''Kytice'', a collection of ballads by Karel Jaromír Erben. While relatively successful commercially, the film was criticized for its crude literalism of depiction. Plot The film narrates seven stories inspired by Erben's poems, with most of the dialogue taken directly from his works and depicted visually as happening from spring to winter. Serving as a prologue, ''Wild Flowers'' depict children mourning their deceased mother whose soul is suggested to have reincarnated into flowers covering her grave. ''The Water Goblin'' depicts a maiden stolen from her mother by a water creature who makes her his bride underwater. After having a child together, the goblin allows the maiden to visit her mother, but makes her leave their child with him to secure her return. Juraj Jakubisko
Juraj Jakubisko (30 April 1938 – 24 February 2023) was a Slovak film director. He directed fifteen feature films, between 1967 and 2008. He often took on the dual role of cinematographer in his films, as well as writing or co-writing the scripts. In 2000 he was named the Best Slovak Director of the 20th century by film critics and journalists. His work is often described as magical realism. Career Before entering the film industry, Jakubisko taught still photography at a secondary school for applied arts in Bratislava, and worked for a television company in Košice. In 1960 he moved to Prague where he attended the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU), studying film direction under Václav Wasserman. He graduated in 1965 and began working with Alfréd Radok at the Laterna Magika theatre in Prague.
