James Sharp (12 February 1870 – unknown) was a Scottish footballer who played in the Football League for Darwen and Preston North End, and in the Scottish Football League for Vale of Leven (also appearing for them on the losing side in the 1890 Scottish Cup Final). Bonhill
Bonhill ( sco, B'nill; gd, Both an Uillt) is a town in the Vale of Leven area of West Dunbartonshire, Scotland. It is sited on the Eastern bank of the River Leven, on the opposite bank from the larger town of Alexandria. History The area is mentioned in a charter of 1225 giving the monks from Paisley Abbey fishing rights on the east bank of the River Leven at the Linbrane pool. Bonhill Parish was noted in a charter of 1270 as "the parish of Buthehille", and the name became Bonyle about 1550, with the variants Binnuill, Bonuil and Bonill appearing before Bonhill was adopted by 1700. In 1650 this small poor parish was enlarged, and since then the Parish has included most of the towns and villages in the Vale of Leven. The village of Bonhill itself featured an early church, and a ford across the River Leven on the drovers' road to Glasgow. Buchanan Sharp (2 November 1894 – 11 January 1956) was a Scottish professional footballer who played for Clydebank Juniors, Vale of Leven, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, Nelson and Southport. Career Sharp began his career with Clydebank Juniors before playing for Vale of Leven. In 1921 he joined Chelsea where he scored 23 goals in 72 appearances overall and was joint top scorer with Harry Ford in the 1922–23 season with 10 goals. The inside forward signed for Tottenham Hotspur in March 1923 and played in three matches for the ''Spurs''. The Scottish Football League (SFL) was a league featuring professional and semi-professional football clubs mostly from Scotland.One club, Berwick Rangers, is based in the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which is located approximately 4 km south of the Anglo-Scottish border.
