James Bond Jr.
''James Bond Jr.'' is an American animated television series based on Ian Fleming's ''James Bond'' franchise. Produced by Mac B, Danjaq and Murakami-Wolf-Swenson in association with United Artists, it follows the adventures of James Bond's nephew, James Bond Jr. The series debuted on 16 September 1991 and ran 65 episodes before ending on 13 December of the same year. It was the first ever television series produced based on the Bond franchise, and, as of 2025, is the only animated adaptation to date. Background This was the second attempt to create an animated series based on the Bond franchise. Bond screenwriter Kevin McClory announced in a February 1988 issue of '' Variety'' that he was working to produce an animated James Bond series called ''James Bond vs. S.P.E.C.T.R.E.'', to be produced by an unnamed Dutch company. Fred Wolf Films is an American animation studio founded in 1967 by Fred Wolf and Jimmy T. Murakami. It was founded as MW (Murakami-Wolf). It later became known as Murakami-Wolf-Swenson (MWS) when Charles Swenson became a full partner in 1978. From 1989 to 2000, they also operated a subsidiary, Fred Wolf Films Dublin, located in Dublin, Ireland. It adopted its current name in 1992 following a reorganization. Q (James Bond)
Q is a character in the James Bond films and novelisations. Q is the head of Q Branch (later Q Division), the fictional research and development division of the British Secret Service charged with oversight of top secret field technologies. Q (standing for quartermaster), like M, is a job title rather than a name. The use of letters as pseudonyms for senior officers in the British Secret Service was started by its first director, Captain Sir Mansfield George Smith-Cumming (1859–1923), who signed himself with a C written in green ink. "Casino Royale" is a live 1954 television adaptation of the 1953 novel of the same name by Ian Fleming. An episode of the American dramatic anthology series ''Climax!'', the show was the first screen adaptation of a James Bond novel, and stars Barry Nelson, Peter Lorre, and Linda Christian. Though he is based on the literary Bond, Nelson's character is played as an American spy working for the "Combined Intelligence Agency". Most of the largely forgotten show was uncovered by film historian Jim Schoenberger in 1981, with the ending (including credits) found later. Both copies are black and white kinescopes, but the original live broadcast was in color. The episode has since lapsed into the public domain in the United States and countries that apply the rule of the shorter term due to not having its copyright renewed. Kevin O'Donovan McClory (8 June 1924 – 20 November 2006) was an Irish screenwriter, film producer, and film director. McClory was best known for producing the James Bond film '' Thunderball'' and for his legal battles with the character's creator, Ian Fleming (later United Artists, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and Eon Productions). Early years McClory was born in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin, in 1924, to noted actor Thomas John O'Donovan McClory (stage name Desmond O'Donovan) and Winifrede (née Doran), a writer, teacher and actress.
