Jaap Lamberton
Jaap Lamberton (1941 or 1946 - 1991) was a Dutch illustrator of comics and children's literature. Lamberton collaborated with Harrie Geelen on commercials and animated cartoons. He was one of the last remaining artists to work at the comics department of Toonder Studios by Marten Toonder, together with Richard Klokkers and Frits Godhelp. He also illustrated the ''Panda'' comic strip series with stories written by Harrie Geelen and Ruud Straatman. He was production coordinator for the animated feature film ''The Dragon That Wasn't (Or Was He?)''. In 1993, he was posthumously awarded the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs for illustrating ''Een heel lief konijn'', written by Imme Dros. Digital Library For Dutch Literature
The Digital Library for Dutch Literature (Dutch: Digitale Bibliotheek voor de Nederlandse Letteren or DBNL) is a website (showing the abbreviation as dbnl) about Dutch language and Dutch literature. It contains thousands of literary texts, secondary literature and additional information, like biographies, portrayals etcetera, and hyperlinks. The DBNL is an initiative by the DBNL foundation that was founded in 1999 by the Society of Dutch Literature (Dutch: Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde). Building of the DNBL was made possible by donations, among others, from the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research (Dutch: Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek or NWO) and the Nederlandse Taalunie. From 2008 to 2012, the editor was René van Stipriaan. The work is done by eight people in Leiden (as of 2013: The Hague), 20 students, and 50 people in the Philippines who scan and type the texts. Imme Dros
Imme Dros (born 26 September 1936, Oudeschild, Texel) is a Dutch writer of children's literature. Life Dros grew up on the island of Texel. She studied Dutch in Amsterdam. There she met her husband Harrie Geelen, with whom she had three children. As a homemaker, she wrote her first book in 1971. Her husband has illustrated several of her books. She currently resides in Hilversum. Work In the 1970s, Dros wrote books mainly about animals. Young adolescents were her main theme in the 1980s, during which time she also shifted towards writing for a younger audience. From the 1990s on she made the classic works of Homer and other Greek mythology stories into new forms. For example, her book ''Odysseus : een man van verhalen'' describes how Odysseus attempts to return home after the Trojan War. It is written in a rather poetic style of writing. The Woutertje Pieterse Prijs ( Dutch for Woutertje Pieterse Prize) is an annual Dutch literary award for the best children's book of the preceding year. History The award was first given in 1988. The award is awarded annually in March or April. The award is named after the character Woutertje Pieterse in ''Ideeën'' written by Multatuli. The award's name refers to the character's curiosity and tendency to go against society's morals. In a similar way, the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs is awarded to books that differ from children's literature with a didactic or moralistic nature. Some authors have received the award multiple times, including Toon Tellegen (1992, 1994), Joke van Leeuwen (1997, 1999) and Paul Biegel (1991, 2000). Panda (comics)
''Panda'' was a Dutch comic strip series, created by Marten Toonder. After '' Tom Poes'' it was his second most successful and well known comic strip and very popular in foreign translations. It debuted in 1946 and ran until 1991. Concept ''Panda'' is a talking animal comic strip about a young panda, Panda. The stories take place in a fantasy environment with anthropomorphic animals. Like many Dutch comic strips in the 1940s and 1950s it was published in a text comic format, with the text below the images. Later stories have been published as a balloon comic too. Marten Toonder
Marten Toonder (2 May 1912 – 27 July 2005) was a Dutch comic strip creator, born in Rotterdam. He was probably the most successful comic artist in the Netherlands and had a great influence on the Dutch language by introducing new words and expressions. He is most famous for his series ''Tom Puss'' and ''Panda''. Tom Puss/Oliver B. Bumble series In 1931 after his final exams, Marten Toonder went to Buenos Aires with his father. Here he got acquainted with the work of the well-known Argentine artist and editor Dante Quinterno, who ran a studio producing comics. Quinterno's creations impressed him to such a degree that he decided to become an artist himself. His most famous comic series were the Tom Puss (''Tom Poes'' in Dutch) and Oliver B.
