JR Rotem
Jonathan Reuven Rotem (born July 23, 1975) is a South African-born American record producer, songwriter and music publisher. Biography Early life Rotem was born in July 23, 1975 in Johannesburg, South Africa to Jewish Israeli immigrant parents. He moved to Canada at the age of two and to Moraga, California at the age of twelve. Rotem's entry point into music was in receiving classical piano instruction at a young age. When he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston it was initially with the intention of studying film scoring, but he ended up majoring in jazz composition. Career As his first major label placement, Destiny's Child song "Fancy", from their 2001 album ''Survivor'', is cited by Rotem as being his first 'big break', and the song that convinced the young producer that it was worth pursuing this career path. Kisean Paul Anderson (born February 3, 1990), known professionally as Sean Kingston, is an American former singer and rapper. Born in Miami, Florida, and raised in Jamaica, he signed with J. R. Rotem's record label Beluga Heights Records, in a joint venture with Koch and Epic Records in 2007. ''Sean Kingston'' is the debut studio album by American singer Sean Kingston, released on July 31, 2007. The album was produced by J. R. Rotem. Sean Kingston, with help from Evan Bogart, wrote the songs which range from the self-deprecating-schoolboy tale of lost love in the album's most successful single " Beautiful Girls" to the much deeper "Dry Your Eyes", in which he visits the hardship of watching his mother and sister being sent to prison at the age of 15. In September 2020, Beluga Heights was acquired by Cinq Music Group.
