JJ Redick
Jonathan Clay "JJ" Redick ( ) (born June 24, 1984) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He most recently served as an analyst for ESPN. Redick played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils, winning many individual awards, including the Naismith College Player of the Year. Selected 11th overall by the Orlando Magic in the 2006 NBA draft, he played for 15 seasons in the NBA with six different teams. In 2024, Redick was appointed head coach of the Lakers. In college and his professional career, Redick was known for his excellent three-point and free-throw shooting. He set Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) career records for most points and most ACC tournament points. Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers, also known colloquially as the Sixers, are an American professional basketball team based in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The 76ers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The NCAA Men's Basketball All-American teams are teams made up of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball players voted the best in the country by a variety of organizations. History All-America teams in college basketball were first named by both '' College Humor'' magazine and the Christy Walsh Syndicate in 1929. Parade All-America Boys Basketball Team
The ''Parade'' All-America Boys Basketball Team was an annual selection by ''Parade'' that nationally honored the top high school boys' basketball players in the United States. It was part of the ''Parade'' All-American series that originated with boys basketball before branching to other sports. Started by the Sunday magazine in 1957, it had been the longest ongoing selection of high school basketball All-Americans in the country at the time of its final selections in 2015. Many of the honorees went on to star as college and professional basketball players. As of March 2011, there were 162 ''Parade'' All-Americans playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The 2002 McDonald's All-American Boys Game was an All-star basketball game played on Thursday, April 4, 2002 at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. The game's rosters featured the best and most highly recruited high school boys graduating in 2002. McDonald's All-American Game
The McDonald's All-American Game is an American all-star basketball game played each year for boys' and girls' high school basketball graduates. Consisting of the top players, each team plays a single exhibition game after the conclusion of the high-school basketball season, in an East vs. West format. As part of the annual event, boys and girls compete in a slam dunk contest and a three-point shooting competition, and compete alongside All-American Game alumni in a timed team shootout. The last of these competitions replaced separate overall timed skills competitions for boys and girls. While it is rare for girls to compete in the slam dunk contest, occasionally a girl will elect to participate. 2006 ACC Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2006 Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball tournament took place from March 9 to 12 in Greensboro, North Carolina, at the Greensboro Coliseum. Duke won the tournament for the 16th time. Duke's J.J. Redick won the tournament's Most Valuable Player Award for the second year in a row. The 2006 ACC Tournament was the first tournament with 12 teams participating. Boston College made its first appearance in the tournament, reaching the championship game before losing to Duke. 12th-seeded Wake Forest made a Cinderella run, beating 5th-seeded Florida State and 4th-seeded NC State on their way to the semifinal round, before losing to eventual champions Duke. The 2005 Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball tournament took place from March 10 to 13 in Washington, D.C., at the MCI Center. This was the first time the tournament was played in Washington itself, as the previous ACC Tournaments in the D.C. area were played in suburban Landover, Maryland, at the Capital Centre. Duke won the tournament, defeating Georgia Tech in the championship game. Duke's JJ Redick won the tournament's Most Valuable Player award. The 2005 ACC Tournament was the first, and only, ACC Tournament with 11 teams participating. Conference newcomers Miami and Virginia Tech participated in their first ACC tournament. The All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) men's basketball team is an annual Atlantic Coast Conference honor bestowed on the best players in the conference following every college basketball season. The selections started in the 1953–54 Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball season, ACC inaugural season in 1953–54. At the end of the season, ten players were nominated in two teams (first and second team) as the best of the season. Since the 1989–90 season, three teams were nominated, for a total of 15 players.
