JCDecaux Group (JCDecaux SA, ) is a multinational corporation focused on outdoor advertising. As of 2016, it is the largest company in its sector worldwide with adverts on 140.000 bus stops and 145 airports. The company is headquartered in Neuilly-sur-Seine, near Paris, France. The company was founded in 1964 in Lyon by Jean-Claude Decaux who led the company until 2000. The company has been criticized for promoting Russian propaganda on the Oslo Metro in support of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Dublinbikes
Dublinbikes (styled "dublinbikes") is a public bicycle rental scheme which has operated in the city of Dublin since 2009. At its launch, the scheme, which is sponsored by JCDecaux, used 450 French-made unisex bicycles with 40 stations. By 2011, this had expanded to 550 bicycles and 44 stations, and in 2013 it was announced that a major expansion of the scheme would add a further 950 bikes and another 58 hire points. Dublin was the 17th city to implement such a scheme, and it was considered one of the most successful bike-sharing schemes in the world; however, progress later stalled, with only 2 of 14 phases being rolled out. the scheme lost €376,000 a year, leading to further expansion of Dublin Bikes being put on hold. Jean-Claude Decaux
Jean-Claude Decaux (15 September 1937 – 27 May 2016) was a French businessman and founder of advertising company JCDecaux. The company is now run by his sons, Jean-François Decaux and Jean-Charles Decaux. Personal life Jean-Claude Decaux was the son of a shoe salesman in Beauvais, France. He was married with three children and lived in Paris. He died on 27 May 2016 aged 78. Career At the age of 18, inspired by an argument with his father over the family shoe store's window display, Jean-Claude started a business creating billboards along French roadways. In 1963, legislation in France placed restrictions on billboard use which forced Decaux out of business. He founded JCDecaux in 1964. Villo! (a portmanteau of the French words ("city") and ("bicycle")) is a public bicycle rental programme in Brussels-Capital Region, Belgium. It was launched on 19 May 2009 in cooperation between the Brussels-Capital region and the company JCDecaux as a replacement of the former scheme Cyclocity, launched in 2006. The scheme is currently in its second phase of expansion which will see a system of 5,000 bikes in all of the municipalities of the Brussels region by 2013, making it one of the biggest in the world. Oslo Metro
The Oslo Metro ( or or simply ) is the rapid transit system of Oslo, Norway, operated by Sporveien T-banen on contract from the transit authority Ruter.
