Palatal Approximant
The voiced palatal approximant is a type of consonant used in many spoken languages. The symbol in the International Phonetic Alphabet that represents this sound is ; the equivalent X-SAMPA symbol is j, and in the Americanist phonetic notation it is . When this sound occurs in the form of a palatal glide it is frequently, but not exclusively, denoted as a superscript ''j'' in IPA. This sound is traditionally called a Yod (letter), ''yod'', after its name in Hebrew. J Records was an American record label owned and operated by Bertelsmann Music Group until it was transferred to Sony Music Entertainment when they acquired all of BMG's record labels in late 2008 at the end of their merger. It was distributed through the RCA Music Group. The label was founded in 2000 by Clive Davis and was dissolved into RCA Records in 2011. Joseph Donald Mascis Jr. (born December 10, 1965), better known as J Mascis, is an American musician who is the singer, guitarist and main songwriter for the alternative rock band Dinosaur Jr. He has also released several albums as a solo artist and played drums and guitar on other projects. He was ranked number 74 in a ''Rolling Stone'' list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists", and number 5 in a similar list for ''Spin (magazine), Spin'' magazine in 2012. Jaye Muller
Jaye Muller (born Jens Müller) is a German musician and Internet entrepreneur who performed under the name J. in the 1990s, and later in a duo named "Muller and Patton" with American musician Ben Patton and since 2015 under the name "Count Jaye". In 1992, he released his second solo album, ''We Are the Majority'', which as of 1996 had sold 350,000 copies worldwide. The NME once called him "A ludicrously talented maestro". Dave Marsh wrote in PLAYBOY "If there's a cure for Morrissey, this is it".
