J. Vincent Edwards
J. Vincent Edwards (born 20 June 1947) is a British singer. He became well known in the musical ''Hair'' in 1968, and began recording a series of singles. The most notable was a song called "Thanks" (1969), which has subsequently appeared on a number of compilation albums. Edwards also contributed to the '' Bloomfield'' soundtrack. Later Edwards turned to song writing. ''Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical'' is a rock musical with a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot. The work reflects the creators' observations of the hippie counterculture and sexual revolution of the late 1960s, and several of its songs became anthems of the anti-Vietnam War peace movement. The musical's profanity, its depiction of the use of illegal drugs, its treatment of sexuality, its irreverence for the American flag, and its nude scene caused much comment and controversy. ''Bloomfield'' (released in the United States as ''The Hero'') is a 1971 British-Israeli drama film directed by Richard Harris and Uri Zohar. It was entered into the 21st Berlin International Film Festival. The soundtrack of the film composed and produced by Johnny Harris includes a short version of " The Loner", a song co-written by Maurice Gibb and Lulu's brother Billy Lawrie. Johnny Harris was MD for Lulu at the time this song was composed and recorded in 1969. It was released on a Pye Records single in 1972 performed by The Bloomfields when the film was finally released in Great Britain. The soundtrack also includes 3 tracks by Heads Hands & Feet. Pierre Tubbs (born Pierre Richard Roman Tubbs, 1942) is a British songwriter, record producer and album sleeve designer. One of his biggest successes is " Right Back Where We Started From", which he co-wrote with J. Vincent Edwards. The song was recorded by Maxine Nightingale and used in the movie ''Slap Shot''. He also co-wrote, with J.J. Jackson, " But It's Alright", which was a hit for Jackson when originally released in 1966, and also when re-released in 1969. In 1965, Tubbs recorded the band "the Silence" (pre-John's Children), which was not released at the time. Right Back Where We Started From
"Right Back Where We Started From" is a song written by Pierre Tubbs and J. Vincent Edwards, which was first recorded in the middle of 1975 by Maxine Nightingale for whom it was an international hit. In 1989, a remake by Sinitta reached No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart. The music features a significant repetitive sample from the song "Goodbye, Nothing to Say", written by Stephen Jameson and Marshall Doctores, which was recorded first by Jameson under the name of Nosmo King, and then by the Javells featuring Nosmo King (UK #26), both in 1974. Maxine Nightingale (born 2 November 1952) is a British R&B and soul music singer. She is best known for her hits in the 1970s, with the million seller " Right Back Where We Started From" (1975, UK #8 & 1976, U.S. #2), "Love Hit Me" (1977), and " Lead Me On" (1979). Early life/career One of the three children of Guyanese-born comedian Benny Nightingale and his wife Iris (they also had daughter Rosalind and son Glenn), Maxine Nightingale first sang with her school band: she attended Bryon Primary (in Gillingham, Kent), Ealing Grammar School, and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. At age thirteen, she and a friend visited a neighbourhood house where the band Unisound was rehearsing. Miki Antony (born Michael Antony Derrick) is a British singer, composer, record producer and property developer. Derrick, J. Kris Ife
Kris John Ife (16 June 1946 – 8 November 2013) was an English singer and songwriter, who enjoyed modest success in Britain in the 1960s and 1970s. He recorded a version of "Hush", later covered by Deep Purple. Career Born in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England, Ife's father was based at RAF Halton near Wendover. Ife moved to London and attended St Clement Danes School in Acton, and it was whilst at school that he formed a skiffle group called the Gravediggers. After leaving school he started a group called the Vikings with John Howell and Ray Hailey. The Vikings recorded "Space Walk", produced by Curly Clayton which was not released under their name, but turned up some years later under the name of "Gemini" and with a different producer listed, although the recording was the same. Star Turn on 45 (Pints) is an English novelty song musical ensemble, originally with Steve O'Donnell, Colin Horton Jennings and J. Vincent Edwards.
