Icelandic New Energy
Icelandic New Energy Ltd (''Íslensk NýOrka ehf'') is a company that promotes the use of hydrogen fuel in Iceland founded in 1999 following a decision in 1998 by the Icelandic Parliament to convert vehicle and fishing fleets to hydrogen produced from renewable energy by 2050. Icelandic New Energy was formed as a spin-off from the research carried out by the University of Iceland and is 51% owned by Vistorka, with the remainder owned by Daimler, Norsk Hydro and Shell Hydrogen. VistOrka itself is owned by The Icelandic New Business Venture Fund (Nýsköpunarsjóður), the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the national electricity company Landsvirkjun, Orkuveita Reykjavíkur (Reykjavík Energy), Hitaveita Suðurnesja, the Technological Institute of Iceland, The Fertilizer Plant (Áburðarverksmiðjan), the University of Iceland and Reykjavik Resources.

Landsvirkjun
Landsvirkjun, () the National Power Company of Iceland, is Iceland's largest electricity generator. Landsvirkjun operates 18 power plants in Iceland concentrated on five main areas of operation. History Landsvirkjun was founded on 1 July 1965 by the state of Iceland and the city of Reykjavík. The city of Reykjavík contributed to the company three power stations on the Sog River. Shortly after its founding construction on the Búrfell hydropower station began. From 1965 until 2005 the purpose of Landsvirkjun was to produce and distribute high voltage electricity. The municipality of Akureyri acquired a 5% share in Landsvirkjun in 1983 and became the third owner. Hydrogen Economy
The hydrogen economy is using hydrogen to decarbonize economic sectors which are hard to electrify, essentially, the "hard-to-abate" sectors such as cement, steel, long-haul transport etc. In order to phase out fossil fuels and limit climate change, hydrogen can be created from water using renewable sources such as wind and solar, and its combustion only releases water vapor to the atmosphere. Renewable Energy In Iceland
Iceland is a world leader in renewable energy. 100% of Iceland's electricity grid is produced from renewable resources. In terms of total energy supply, 85% of the total primary energy supply in Iceland is derived from domestically produced renewable energy sources. Geothermal energy provided about 65% of primary energy in 2016, the share of hydropower was 20%, and the share of fossil fuels (mainly oil products for the transport sector) was 15%. The Icelandic government aspires that the nation will be carbon neutral by 2040. The largest obstacles to this are road transport and the fishing industry. SEV (company)
SEV is a power producer and distributor on the Faroe Islands. The company name is derived from the names of islands Streymoy, Eysturoy and Vágar, which established the company on 1 October 1946. All municipalities in Vágar, all in Eysturoy except for Sjóvar municipality and all municipalities in Streymoy except for Tórshavn, Kvívík and Kollafjørður met at the first establishing meeting. The Icelandic New Business Venture Fund (also known as the New Business Venture Fund or the NBVF for short) is an independent company owned by the Icelandic government. It began operations in 1998 after a 1997 reorganization of the banking sector of Iceland. The organization is supervised by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
