Ian Bleasdale
Ian Bleasdale (born 1950, in Upholland, Lancashire) is an English actor and television presenter. He divides his time between Haworth in West Yorkshire and Bristol. He started off life as a teacher before deciding that he wanted to become an actor, something which he would later joke forced his mother to take to her sickbed. He has appeared in various programmes, including ''The Beiderbecke Affair'', ''Harry's Game'', ''Inspector Morse'', ''The Brittas Empire'', ''Andy Capp'', ''Soldier Soldier'', '' All Creatures Great and Small'' and as a photographer on ''Coronation Street''. However, Bleasdale is best known for his role as paramedic Josh Griffiths on the BBC television drama, ''Casualty''. He was the second longest serving character in the show's 20-year history, bettered only by Derek Thompson's character Charlie Fairhead. Upholland
Up Holland (or Upholland) is a village close to Skelmersdale and civil parish in the West Lancashire district, in the county of Lancashire, England, 4 miles west of Wigan. The population at the 2011 census was 7,376. Geography The village is on a small hill 89m above sea level that rises above the West Lancashire Coastal Plain. There are views towards St Helens and Liverpool in the south west, Ormskirk and Southport in the north-west and towards Wigan, Manchester and on to the High Peak of Derbyshire in the east. ''Doctors'' is a British medical soap opera, first broadcast on BBC One on 26 March 2000. Charlie Fairhead, played by Derek Thompson, is a fictional character from the BBC British medical drama ''Casualty''. He is the longest-serving character, having played the role of Charlie for over 36 years, and the only remaining original character to have appeared continuously since the first episode was broadcast on 6 September 1986. Derek Thompson chose to take a nine-month break from the show in early 2004. Charlie left the show in series 18 on 17 July 2004 and after five months, returned on 1 January 2005 in series 19.
