Iván F. González Cancel is a Circulatory system, cardiovascular and Heart transplantation, heart transplant surgeon credited for having performed the first heart transplant surgery in Puerto Rico. Early life He was born in 1960 in municipality of Utuado, Puerto Rico. He lived in Utuado until the age of 10, when the González Cancel family decided to move to Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Bayamon, PR. It was in Bayamon where the young Iván González Cancel studied fifth and sixth grade. Pedro Juan Rosselló González (; born April 5, 1944) is a Puerto Rican physician and politician who served as the governor of Puerto Rico from 1993 to 2001. He was President of the New Progressive Party from 1991 to 1999 and 2003 to 2008, and served as Senator for the District of Arecibo from 2005 to 2008. His son, Ricardo, was also Governor of Puerto Rico from 2017 to 2019. In 1988 Rosselló ran for Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico, but lost to Jaime Fuster in the 1988 elections. From 1990 to 1991 he successfully challenged former Governor and then-NPP President Carlos Romero Barceló for the NPP's presidency.
