Iván Contreras
Gerardo Iván Contreras Gámez (born January 29, 1974, in Tampico) is a former Mexico, Mexican professional volleyball player. His position on the field is Volleyball#Player specialization, outside hitter. Contreras has been voted ''player of the year'' in 2005, 2007 and 2008 in Belgium. Contreras is also captain of Knack Roeselare. Contreras attended Penn State University where he won an NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship, NCAA National Championship as a freshman and was named the AVCA National Player of the Year in 1997. Among Contreras' former teams are Osnabrück in Germany, MTV Näfels in Switzerland, Knack Roeselare in Belgium and Ziraat Bankası Ankara in Turkey. In 2004, he won the MVP award from the Liga de Voleibol Superior Masculino, playing with Gigantes de Adjuntas. He played for this team from 2002 to 2006. Tampico
Tampico is a city and port in the southeastern part of the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. It is located on the north bank of the Pánuco River, about inland from the Gulf of Mexico, and directly north of the state of Veracruz. Knack Randstad Roeselare
Knack Roeselare is a Belgian professional men's volleyball club based in Roeselare. They compete in the Euro Millions Volley League and the CEV Champions League. The club was founded on February 12, 1964. Officially they started in the lowest division of the Belgian Volleyball in September 1964. They quickly grew into one of the biggest clubs in Belgium. Penn State Nittany Lions Men's Volleyball
The Penn State Nittany Lions men's volleyball program has had a long tradition at Penn State University. Founded by Tom Tait, Tait coached the team from 1976 to 1989, and was named a USA Volleyball All-Time great coach in 2007. Mark Pavlik has been the head coach since 1995 after serving as an assistant coach for five years. He has led the team to every EIVA conference championship since 1995 with the exception of 1998. Under his guidance, Penn State finished as NCAA runners-up in 1995 and 2006 before winning it all in 2008. He also led the team to an NCAA record of 15 straight (1999–2013) NCAA Final Four appearances. Pavlik was awarded his first ever AVCA National Coach of the Year in 2008.
