picture info	Hortensia Papadat-Bengescu Hortensia Papadat-Bengescu (; 8 December 1876 – 5 March 1955 in Bucharest) was a novelist of the Romanian interwar period. Life Hortensia Bengescu was born in Ivești, Galați, Ivești, Galați County, on 8 December 1876. She was the daughter of General Dimitrie Bengescu and of Zoe (born Ștefănescu). She attended high-school in Bucharest and, aged 20, she married the magistrate Nicolae Papadat but her Literature, literary career was delayed because her husband was transferred from town to town (Turnu Măgurele, Buzău, Focșani, Constanța) and because she had to take care of their four children: Nen, Zoe, Marcela and Elena. She died on 5 March 1955. 	Ștefan Petică Ștefan Petică (; January 20, 1877 – October 17, 1904) was a Romanian Symbolist poet, prose writer, playwright, journalist, and socialist activist. Born in the countryside of Tecuci, he displayed a voracious appetite for literature and philosophy since his early years. After high school, he made his way to the national capital Bucharest, where university studies soon gave way to low-paid newspaper work. Petică published one volume of poetry before his premature death, and left his mark as one of the first exponents of the domestic Symbolist movement.
