Ivar Skjånes
Ivar Skjånes (5 March 1888, Kolvereid – 5 June 1975, Trondheim) was a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. Skjånes became mayor of Trondheim, the third largest city in Norway, in 1935. On 31 October 1940, during the German occupation of Norway, he was removed on the orders of the occupants. He was also imprisoned, first from March to May 1942 in Falstad concentration camp. In September 1944 he was arrested again and incarcerated in Vollan concentration camp until October, then in Berg concentration camp Berg interneringsleir (Berg internment camp) was a concentration camp near Tønsberg in Norway that served as an internment and transit center for political prisoners and Jews during the Nazi occupation of Norway. In many countries, a mayor is the highest-ranking official in a Municipal corporation, municipal government such as that of a city or a town. Falstad Concentration Camp Survivors
Falstad concentration camp ( or ) was situated in the village of Ekne in what was Skogn Municipality (now part of Levanger Municipality in Trøndelag county) in Norway. It was used mostly for political prisoners from Nazi-occupied territories. Falstad boarding school The boarding school for boys at Falstad was founded as part of the general movement in Europe generally and Norway in particular, to reform the penal system, especially for children. Prison director Anders Daae took the initiative in founding a private institution in Trøndelag, to be modeled after similar schools in Europe. He raised funds primarily through the ''Trondhjems Brændevinssamlag'' (Trondheim liquor cooperative) and ''Trondhjems Sparebank'' (Trondheim Savings Bank) and acquired the farm known as Nedre Falstad for in 1895, along with the farm buildings. Johan Cappelen
Johan Cappelen (25 February 1889 – 18 October 1947) was a Norwegian lawyer and politician for the Conservative Party. He was born in Skogn Municipality as a son of physician Johan Christian Severin Cappelen (1855–1936) and Katharina M. Steen (1859–1915). He had one sister and one brother. He was a nephew of physician Axel Hermansen Cappelen. He graduated from the Royal Frederick University with cand.jur. degree in 1911. He worked as a deputy judge, and from 1915, attorney in Trondhjem. He was barrister"Monthly Report on the Economic Conditions in Norway," Volumes 12-18, ''Norges banks seddeltrykkeri'', (1936), p. 109 with access to work with Supreme Court from 1922. John Aae
John Amandus Aae (26 October 1890 – 12 January 1968) was a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. He was born in Jämtland, but grew up in Snillfjord Municipality. He became manager of the newspaper ''Ny Tid'' in 1919. In the 1923 party split which saw the Communist Party break away from the Labour Party, Aae sided with the Labour Party. As ''Ny Tid'' now sided with the Communist Party, Aae and others established a Labour newspaper '' Arbeider-Avisen''. Aae worked as manager from 1924. Having served as a member of the municipal council for Strinda Municipality from 1917 to 1923, Aae was elected to the municipal council of Trondheim Municipality in 1928. He became deputy mayor in 1935. The German occupation of Norway hampered his career. ''Arbeider-Avisen'' was shut down by the authorities in 1941.
