Ivar Kolve
Ivar Kolve (born 31 March 1967) is a Norwegian jazz musician (xylophone, vibraphone, marimba and percussion), the younger brother of the saxophonist Kåre Kolve, and known from several album releases as soloartist and for collaborations with Maria Joao, Jan Gunnar Hoff, Ståle Storløkken, Mathias Eick, Eivind Aarset and Bjørn Kjellemyr among others. Career Kolve was born in Voss but since 1988 has lived in Bergen, where he was educated at the Bergen Musikkonservatorium. With his own Trio Ivar Kolve Trio (established in 1996) Sébastien Dubé (bass) and Stein Inge Brækhus (drums), he has released a number of albums. Kolve is part of the band «Spindel» led by Liv Merete Kroken and Sigrid Moldestad (''Spindel'' 2001 and ''Aminje'' 2005). It was started by Knut Værnes and Morten Halle to release their own music. NorCD (established 1991 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian record label for folk, jazz, world music and improvisational music, led by the founder saxophonist and composer Karl Seglem. NorCD is distributed through Musikkoperatørene, and is a member of FONO. Biography In 1991 Karl Seglem decided to create a new free record label to distribute his music. The company soon enlisted a number of Norwegian performers in different genres. A derivation of the company was the label SOFA, which focused on the European improv, led by Ingar Zach and Ivar Grydeland. The NorCD catalog features 110 CD-titles (spring 2012) with many of the foremost Norwegian jazz and folk musicians. Jarle Vespestad
Jarle Vespestad (born 16 April 1966) is a Norwegian jazz musician (percussion), the younger brother of jazz musician Liz Tove Vespestad, and a central member of Tord Gustavsen's projects. Career Vespestad was born in Kirkenes and picked up drumming in the local marching band, but drumming first became serious after finishing high school, where he found himself heading into a future as a substitute teacher at his local high-school. He made up his mind and graduated from the Toneheim Folk High School (1988) and Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (1990). In Trondheim he became the driving force behind many successful bands to come out of Trondheim the following years, like Veslefrekk, "Trondheim Kunstorkester", Farmers Market (1991–) and the Maria Kannegaard trio (1993–). Ellen Andrea Wang
Ellen Andrea Wang (born 10 October 1986 in Gjøvik, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (double bass and singer) and composer. She is the cousin of singer-songwriter Marthe Wang. Raised in Søndre Land, Oppland, she released her debut album, ''Diving'', in 2014. She formed the band Pixel in 2010. Wang has toured with Manu Katché and Marilyn Mazur and has performed with Sting. Jørn Øien (born 19 January 1968 in Narvik) is a Norwegian jazz pianist and keyboard player. He is known from a number of festival performances and record releases, and cooperations with the likes of Thorgeir Stubø, Kjersti Stubø, Ernst-Wiggo Sandbakk, John Pål Inderberg, Tore Brunborg, Knut Værnes, Kjell Karlsen, Terje Gewelt, Roger Johansen, Paal Nilssen-Love, Per Zanussi and Torstein Lofthus. Vossajazz
Vossajazz or Vossa Jazz (established 19 December 1973) is an international jazz festival in Voss, Norway, which takes place annually during the week before Easter, and which also includes concerts throughout the year. The festival has been led by Trude Storheim since August 2007. History The first festival in 1974 was held the same weekend as the World Cup in Alpine skiing at Voss. The idea was that ski and jazz fit together. Since 1986 the festival has always taken place during the palm weekend. From 2007, the festival director has been Trude Storheim. Sigrid Moldestad
Sigrid Terese Moldestad (born 19 July 1972, in Breim, Gloppen, Norway) is a Norwegian folk singer, musician, and instrumentalist who plays the fiddle as well as Hardanger fiddle. She performs solo or with Sigrid Moldestad and Band. She was also part of the duo Spindel and the trio Gamalnymalt. Career She is a graduate of Firda High School and Ole Bull-akademiet. She worked at the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) in the late 1990s in its regional Sogn og Fjordane offices and for NRK P3 from 1993–1999.
