Ivan Čehok
Ivan Čehok () (born 13 September 1965) is a Croatian politician who served as mayor of Varaždin from 2001 to 2011, and from 2017 to 2021. He was a prominent member of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS). Čehok was born in Korenjak (part of Maruševec), in Varaždin County. He obtained a degree in philosophy and comparative literature from the Zagreb Faculty of Philosophy, and later also earned a PhD in philosophy from the same faculty. He wrote several philosophy and ethics high school textbooks. Between 2004 and 2006, Čehok was president of the HSLS. He was elected to the Croatian Parliament in 2000, 2003, and 2007 2007 was designated as the International Heliophysical Year and the International Polar Year. Đurđa Adlešič (also Đurđa Adlešić; born 9 August 1960) is a former Croatian politician and former leader of the center-right Croatian Social Liberal Party The Croatian Social Liberal Party ( or HSLS) is a conservative-liberal political party in Croatia. Dražen Budiša
Dražen Budiša (born 25 July 1948) is a Croatian politician who used to be a leading opposition figure in the 1990s and a two-time presidential candidate. As president of the Croatian Social Liberal Party through the 1990s he remains to date the only Leader of the Opposition not to have been from either the Croatian Democratic Union or the Social Democratic Party. Biography During Yugoslavia Budiša was born in Drniš, People's Republic of Croatia, within the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia. 2017 Croatian Local Elections
The first round of the 2017 Croatian local elections was held on 21 May and the second round, where necessary, on 4 June. All seats of the county prefects, city and municipal mayors and members of county, municipal and city councils were up for election. In total, there were 9,576 open seats contested by 47,601 candidates. Voters were electing: 20 county prefects, 128 city mayors, 428 municipal mayors, 51 deputy county prefects, 195 deputy city mayors, 440 deputy municipal mayors, 63 deputy city and municipal mayors elected by the national minorities, 836 county councilors, 2,226 city councilors and 5,152 municipal councilors. 3,719,182 voters had the right to vote, which was 39,500 fewer than at the previous local elections.
