Itaipé
Itaipé is a Brazilian municipality located in the northeast of the state of Minas Gerais. Its population was estimated to be 12,836 people living in a total area of 483 km2. The city is part of the Immediate Geographic Region of Teófilo Otoni. It became a municipality in 1962. Geography Itaipé is located on at an elevation of 847 meters, 66 km. northwest of Teófilo Otoni. The distance to the state capital, Belo Horizonte, is 530 km. Neighboring municipalities are: Novo Cruzeiro, Caraí, Catuji, and Ladainha. The city's name is of Tupi origin and means "Path of Stones", due to the presence in the region of many interesting rock formations. The most spectacular is Pedra do Chifre, with an elevation of 1,100 meters, and located on the municipal boundary of Itaipé and Teófilo Otoni. Teófilo Otoni
Teófilo Otoni is a municipality in northeast Minas Gerais, Brazil. The population of the municipality was 140,937 in 2020 and the area is 3,242.818 km2. Origin of the name The city is named after (Vila do Príncipe, 27 January 1807 - Rio de Janeiro, 17 October 1869), who was a provincial deputy representing Minas Gerais; a national deputy and a senator in the Empire of Brazil from 1864 to 1869; and founder of the city of the same name. Geography It lies at an elevation of 319 meters on the Todos os Santos River, a tributary of the Mucuri. It is part of the Valley of the Mucuri, a region which includes 27 municipalities. Situated on the Rio-Bahia Interstate Highway BR 116, it is 130 km. north of the regional center, Governador Valadares, on the Doce River, and 478 km north of the state capital, Belo Horizonte. Caraí
Caraí is a Brazilian municipality located in the northeast of the state of Minas Gerais. Its population was estimated to be 23,780 people living in a total area of 1,240 km2. The city is part of the Immediate Geographic Region of Teófilo Otoni. The elevation of the municipal seat is 750 meters. It became a municipality in 1948. The economy is based on cattle raising, services, and subsistence agriculture, with the main crops being coffee (2,600 ha.), rice, beans, sugarcane, and corn. The cattle herd had 17,000 head in 2006. In 2005 there were 2633 rural producers but only 20 tractors. 8,700 people were dependent on agriculture. there were 8 public health clinics, with none carrying out diagnosis and complete therapy. Novo Cruzeiro
Novo Cruzeiro is a Brazilian municipality located in the northeast of the state of Minas Gerais. Its population as of 2020 was estimated to be 31,335 people living in a total area of 1,701 km2. The city belongs to the mesoregion of Jequitinhonha and to the microregion of Araçuaí. The elevation of the municipal seat is 980 meters. It became a municipality in 1943. Ladainha is a Brazilian municipality located in the northeast of the state of Minas Gerais. Its population was estimated to be 18,193 people living in a total area of 865 km2. The city is part of the Immediate Geographic Region of Teófilo Otoni. It became a municipality in 1949. Catuji
Catuji is a Brazilian municipality located in the northeast of the state of Minas Gerais. Its population was estimated to be 6,257 people living in a total area of 421 km2. The city is part of the Immediate Geographic Region of Teófilo Otoni. It became a municipality in 1993. Its name comes from the Tupi language, catú-g-y, meaning "good river" or "good water". Poços de Caldas is a Municipalities of Brazil, municipality in the south of Minas Gerais state, Brazil, in the microregion of the same name. Its estimated population in 2020 was 168,641 inhabitants. The city is known for its hot springs. History Poços was founded in 1872.
