Isaar, Wisconsin
Isaar is a small unincorporated community in the Town of Seymour in Outagamie County, Wisconsin, about from Green Bay. Isaar has the same zip code as the City of Seymour and its schools are part of the Seymour Community School District. Isaar was founded in 1867 by immigrants from Bavaria who settled there as part of the Homestead Act. The town was named by the new settlers after the Isar River in their homeland. Isaar became known for its St. Sebastian Catholic Church, although in September 2007 the last resident priest left Isaar. The community is home to a number of clubs, such as the snowmobile club, called the Isaar Trail Riders, and the Isaar Booster Club. Outagamie County ( ) is a county in the Fox Cities region of the U.S. state of Wisconsin, in the northeast of the state. As of the 2020 census, the population was 190,705. Its county seat is Appleton. Outagamie County is part of the Appleton Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is itself part of the Appleton- Neenah- Oshkosh Combined Statistical Area. The Homestead Acts were several laws in the United States by which an applicant could acquire ownership of Federal lands, government land or the American frontier, public domain, typically called a Homestead (buildings), homestead.
