The following is a list of characters that first appeared in the British soap opera ''Emmerdale'' in 2010, by order of first appearance. All characters were introduced by the soap's executive producer, Steve Frost. Charlie Haynes Charles "Charlie" Haynes, played by George Costigan, is an old friend of Rodney Blackstock ( Patrick Mower). He made his first on-screen appearance on 8 March 2010. Charlie was first seen when Rodney was on a date with a glamorous woman, revealing that he and Rodney were friends years ago but lost contact. The next day, Charlie and Rodney were having a drink in the Woolpack, and Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen) realised that this was the 'famous' Charlie that Rodney used to talk about years ago.
