Isaac Joseph
Isaac Joseph (born 19 September 1975) is a Papua New Guinean politician. He was a New Generation Party member of the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea from July 2007 until 2012, representing the electorate of Mendi Open. Joseph was a church pastor before entering politics. He was elected to the open seat vacated by Michael Nali, who made an unsuccessful attempt to shift to the Southern Highlands Regional seat. He was subsequently appointed Shadow Minister for the Public Service by Opposition Leader Sir Mekere Morauta. He has been critical of past neglect within the Mendi area, and has pledged to push for a number of reforms, including new development initiatives, reform of the public service, improved enforcement of law and order and an end to tribal fighting.Kolo, Pearson. New Generation Party (Papua New Guinea)
The New Generation Party is a political party in Papua New Guinea. It was established in 2006 by former Treasurer Bart Philemon and Lae businessman Bob Sinclair. It pledged to abolish provincial governments and administrators and ban the export of whole logs, switching to downstream processing of timber in Papua New Guinea. It stated that it would not work with the government of Michael Somare, and allied with Mekere Morauta's Papua New Guinea Party. It won four seats at the 2007 election, with Philemon becoming deputy opposition leader under Morauta. The party passed into government when Peter O'Neill ousted Somare in August 2011, and O'Neill appointed Philemon as Minister for Public Service in the new government. The National Parliament of Papua New Guinea is the Unicameralism, unicameral national legislature in Papua New Guinea. It was created in 1964 as the House of Assembly of Papua and New Guinea but gained its current name after the nation was granted independence in 1975. Michael Nali CBE (born 1961) is a Papua New Guinean politician. He was the leader of the People's Progress Party from 2002 to 2007 and was Member of Parliament for the electorate of Mendi Open, in Southern Highlands Province, from 1992 until 2007. During this period he held various ministerial positions, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry. At the 2007 general election he chose to contest the Southern Highlands Provincial electorate, which was won by Anderson Agiru. Mekere Morauta
Sir Mekere Morauta (12 June 1946 – 19 December 2020) was a Papua New Guinean politician and economist who served as the 7th Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea from 1999 to 2002. Inheriting a depressed economy and a fractious legislature, he embarked on fundamental reforms of the country's economy and political system. Before entering politics, Morauta led the post-independence process of building financial infrastructure in Papua New Guinea as Secretary of Finance, Managing Director of the state-owned Papua New Guinea Banking Corporation, and Governor of the central bank. As a member of parliament, he represented Port Moresby North West from 1997 until 2012, and again from 2017 until his death in 2020. De Kewanu (born 7 June 1965) is a Papua New Guinean politician. He was a member of the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea from 2012 to 2017, representing the electorate of Mendi Open, firstly as an independent (2012) then the Triumph Heritage Empowerment Party (2013-2014) and then finally shifted to the People's National Congress (2014–present). He was Vice-Minister for Works and Implementation in the government of Peter O'Neill. Kewanu was an accountant who ran a successful accounting practice in PNG known as HLB Niugini before entering politics. He also had a run for election in 1997 but was unsuccessful.
