Irmscher Automobilbau GmbH & Co. KG is a German car tuning and manufacturing company, specialising in Opel, Peugeot and Kia vehicles as well as working for the complete automotive industry as an engineering service provider. It was founded in 1968 in a double garage in the Swabian town of Winnenden (near Stuttgart) by rally driver and mechanic Günther Irmscher. Irmscher has retained close links to the Opel company by operating the factory team in many European and German automobile competitions, including the Ascona B i400 rally car, the Vectra touring car, the Astra DTM car and the Omega V8Star Series car. This has led them to design and manufacture parts for Chevrolet, the Cadillac CTS and wheels for the GM based SAAB models, although these are much rarer than the Opel parts. Opel Omega
The Opel Omega is an executive car engineered and manufactured by German automaker Opel between 1986 and 2003. The first generation, the Omega A (1986–1994), superseded the Opel Rekord. It was voted European Car of the Year for 1987, and was available as a sedan (car), saloon or estate car, estate. The second generation, the Omega B, was manufactured from 1994 to 2003. Badge engineering, Rebadged variants of the Omega were marketed worldwide, including in North America as the Cadillac Catera, in Great Britain as the Vauxhall Omega, and South America as the Chevrolet Omega. As with the Rekord which preceded it, re-engineered versions of the Omega were manufactured in Australia from 1988 as the Holden Commodore (and its derivatives) since 1999. Günther Irmscher (1937 – 9 February 1996) was a German rally driver and entrepreneur. In 1968 he founded the company Irmscher Automobilbau in Winnenden near Stuttgart, South Germany. The first time they made tuning parts for Opel cars. He started with Opel Kadett (1977), then Opel Manta (1983), Opel Senator, Opel Omega (both 1990). V8Star Series
The V8Star Series was a touring car racing series based in Germany that ran for three seasons between 2001 and 2003. The series featured privateers racing identical cars that were covered in different silhouette designs to create visual diversity. It was commonly compared to the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, which was factory-backed and revived in 2000. Its choice of engines and the fact that it raced twice in the oval configuration at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz also led to the V8Star Series being called the "German NASCAR" before its cancellation in November 2003 due to a lack of sponsorship money. The Opel Ascona is a large family car (D-segment in Europe) that was produced by the German automaker Opel from 1970 to 1988. It was produced in three separate generations, beginning with rear-wheel-drive and ending up as a front-wheel drive J-car derivative.
