Irati, Paraná
Irati is a municipality in the state of Paraná in Brazil, located in the southeastern region of the state. Its population at the 2022 census was 59,250. The main ethnicities are especially Poles and Ukrainians, who seek to maintain customs and traditions of their ancestors. Irati sprang up in the 1890s as a railroad town along the São Paulo – Rio Grande do Sul railroad line. The name, Irati, comes from the Tupi language and reportedly means "river of honey" (apparently there were many bees in the region). A distinguishing feature of many small towns in southern Brazil is the municipal anthem. Irati Forest
The Irati Forest (; ; ；), found in the western Pyrenees, covers of the Navarre region, astride on the Soule ( Larrau) and Basse-Navarre ( Mendive and Lecumberry) provinces (France) and Navarre (Spain), framed by Mount Okabe (1,466 m) and Pic d'Orhy (2,017 m). It is the second largest and best preserved mixed beech-fir forest in Europe. History Located in a scarcely populated area, it has maintained a wild and mysterious aspect, fueled by many old Basque legends. The access route was only built in 1964. Toponymy Its name comes from the Irati river, which crops up from the meeting of the Urtxuria and Urbeltza. Flora and fauna For the most part, the Irati Forest shares the flora and fauna of the Pyrenees. ''Irati'' is a 2022 epic fantasy adventure film written and directed by based on the graphic novel ''El ciclo de Irati'' which stars Eneko Sagardoy alongside Edurne Azkarate and Itziar Ituño. A Spanish-French co-production shot in Basque heavily borrowing from Basque mythology, the film is set in the 8th century against the backdrop of the ongoing Christianization of remote areas around the Pyrenees. The plot tracks Eneko (Sagardoy), son to a Basque chieftain who died in battle, who journeys into the forest to find the body of his father, guided by pagan woman Irati (Azkarate).
