Irará
Irará is a city in Bahia, Brazil. The municipality is the hometown of former professional footballer Dida, of A.C. Milan and Brazil national football team fame and musician Tom Zé. Until the 17th century, the region was inhabited by the Irará was settled by the Paiaiá, a subgroup of the Quiriris peoples. The land was annexed by the Portuguese in the 16th century, and became part of the vast land holdings of Garcia d'Ávila (1528-1609) in the Captaincy of Bahia. The Jesuits explored the area from the north via their settlement in present-day Água Fria. Tom Zé
Antônio José Santana Martins (born 11 October 1936), known professionally as Tom Zé (), Born in Irará, Bahia, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer who was influential in the Tropicália movement of 1960s Brazil. After the peak of the Tropicália period, Zé went into relative obscurity: it was only in the 1990s, when musician and Luaka Bop label head David Byrne discovered Zé's 1975 album ''Estudando o Samba'' and then released reissues of his work, that Zé returned to performing and releasing new material. Early life and career Tom Zé grew up in the small town of Irará, Bahia in the dry sertão region of the country's Northeast. Água Fria
Água Fria ( Portuguese: ''cold water'') is a municipality in the state of Bahia in the North-East region of Brazil. It covers , and has a population of 17,033 with a population density of 23.77 inhabitants per square kilometer. History Água Fria was originally a Tupí settlement. The Jesuits arrived in 1582 and discovered the settlement, which was rich in both water and forests. The Tupí were hunted and enslaved by the frontiersman João Peixoto Viegas in the following period to work on cattle farms. The settlement became a municipality known as St. John Baptist de Água Fria, which was created by Imperial decree in 1727. It was absorbed into the municipality of Purificação (currently Irará) in 1842. The municipality was separated from Irará in 1962 and restored as Água Fria. Dida (footballer, Born 1973)
Nélson de Jesus Silva (born 7 October 1973), better known simply as Dida (), is a Brazilian former football goalkeeper and goalkeeping coach. He started his senior club career in Brazil in the early 1990s with Vitória before moving to Cruzeiro and Corinthians. He is perhaps best remembered for his ten-year stint with AC Milan from 2000 to 2010, where he established himself as one of the world's best goalkeepers and won multiple trophies and individual awards with the club, including one Serie A title ('' Scudetto'') and twice the UEFA Champions League, with the first of those victories coming after he saved three penalties in the 2003 final against Serie A rivals Juventus, and is one of four Milan keepers with 300 career appearances. ''Código de Endereçamento Postal'' (Postal Addressing Code) is the Brazilian postal code system commonly known as CEP. Introduced in 1972 as a sequence of five digits, it was expanded to eight digits in 1992 to allow for more precise localization. The standard format is "nnnnn-nnn" (the original five digits, a hyphen, and the new three digits). Most cities with population around 100,000 and above have a CEP assigned to every public place and to some high-occupancy private spaces, like major commercial buildings and large residential condos. Captaincy Of Bahia
The Captaincy of Bahia, fully the Captaincy of the Bay of All Saints (Modern ), was a captaincy of Portuguese Brazil. History Donatary Captaincy King João III of Portugal bestowed the donatary captaincy on Francisco Pereira Coutinho on 5 March 1534 as a reward for his service at Goa. The initial grant was notionally for 50 leagues of coastline around the Bay of All Saints, from the mouth of the Rio São Francisco to the Rio Jaguariçá. In practice, the early captaincies' boundaries were not respected but the settlement was too small for it to matter. Arriving in Brazil in late 1536, Pereira Coutinho and his men slept on their ships until they had completed the construction of about forty adobe homes, which he christened the village (') of Pereira.
