Iowa's 2nd congressional district is a List of United States congressional districts, congressional district in the U.S. state of Iowa that covers most of its northeastern part. It includes Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Iowa, Dubuque, Waverly, Iowa, Waverly, Waterloo, Iowa, Waterloo, and Grinnell, Iowa, Grinnell. 2018 Iowa Gubernatorial Election
The 2018 Iowa gubernatorial election took place on November 6, 2018. Incumbent Republican Party (United States), Republican governor Kim Reynolds ran for election to a full term, facing Democratic Party (United States), Democratic businessman Fred Hubbell, Libertarian Party (United States), Libertarian Jake Porter, and independent candidate Gary Siegwarth. Kim Reynolds
Kimberly Kay Reynolds (née Strawn, August 4, 1959) is an American politician from Iowa. A Republican, Reynolds has served since 2017 as the 43rd governor of Iowa. She is the first female governor in Iowa history. Reynolds was elected Clarke County treasurer in 1994 and served for four terms in that office. She then served a partial term in the Iowa Senate from 2009 to 2011. From 2011 to 2017, Reynolds served as the 46th lieutenant governor of Iowa. She became governor in May 2017 when Governor Terry Branstad stepped down to become the United States ambassador to China. Reynolds won a full term as governor in 2018 and was reelected in 2022. Robert Sand (born August 12, 1982) is an American lawyer and politician who has served as the 33rd Iowa auditor of state since 2019. Sand is a member of the Democratic Party. Sand was the assistant attorney general of Iowa from 2010 to 2017. In 2018, he ran for state auditor, defeating Republican incumbent Mary Mosiman. After considering a run for governor of Iowa in 2022, Sand opted to run for re-election and was the only Democrat to be elected in a statewide office in Iowa in 2022.
