''in•ter a•li•a'' is the fourth and final studio album by At the Drive-In, released on May 5, 2017 on Rise and Transgressive. Produced by guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López and Rich Costey, it was the band's first studio album in seventeen years, following the release of ''Relationship of Command'' (2000) and their initial break-up in 2001. Recorded at Sound Factory, Hollywood during the band's 2016 reunion, ''in•ter a•li•a'' is the band's only studio album to feature guitarist Keeley Davis, who replaced founding member Jim Ward during its 2016–2018 reunion. As a result, the album is the first band's first release since '' El Gran Orgo'' (1997) not to feature Ward, who declined to participate in the band's second reunion. At The Drive-In
At the Drive-In was an American post-hardcore band from El Paso, Texas, formed in 1994. The band's most recent line-up consisted of Cedric Bixler-Zavala (vocals), Omar Rodríguez-López (guitar, vocals), Paul Hinojos (bass), Tony Hajjar (drums) and Keeley Davis (guitar, vocals). After several early line-up changes, the band solidified into a five-piece, consisting of Bixler-Zavala, Rodríguez-López, Jim Ward (musician), Jim Ward, Hinojos and Hajjar. At the Drive-In released three studio albums and five extended play, EPs before breaking up in 2001. Their third and final album before their split, 2000's ''Relationship of Command'', received a number of accolades and is cited as a landmark of the post-hardcore genre. Keeley Davis
Keeley Davis (born January 4, 1976) is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter and graphic designer. He is best known as a member of the post-hardcore band At the Drive-In, with whom he has recorded one studio album, ''In•ter a•li•a'' (2017). Davis is also a former member of the rock bands Sparta (band), Sparta and Engine Down. Career He was the primary lead singer of the band Engine Down, in which he also played guitar. He was also in the band Denali (band), Denali with his sister, Maura Davis. He played bass and synthesizer. Engine Down disbanded (under friendly circumstances) after a farewell tour in 2005, and Davis joined Sparta (band), Sparta as lead guitarist. Davis has since recollaborated with Maura in the Ambient music, ambient indie rock side-project Glös, formed by him and former Engine Down drummer Cornbread Compton. The Mars Volta
The Mars Volta is an American Rock music, rock band formed in 2001. The band's only constant members are Omar Rodríguez-López (guitar, producer, direction) and Cedric Bixler-Zavala (vocals, lyrics), whose partnership forms the core of the band. Sparta is an American rock band from El Paso, Texas, formed in 2001. The band currently consists of Jim Ward (vocals, guitar) and Matt Miller (bass), who are touring as a three-piece with rotating session drummers. Founding members Ward, Paul Hinojos, and Tony Hajjar were members of post-hardcore group At the Drive-In, forming Sparta in 2001 after the break-up of their former band. Tony Hajjar
Tony Hajjar (born August 17, 1974) is a Lebanese-born American drummer, best known for playing in At the Drive-In and Sparta. As of 2016, he is playing in the reformed At The Drive-In, as well as the new group, Gone Is Gone. Tony also produced and drummed on the forthcoming New Language record. Both New Language and Gone Is Gone made their live debuts on April 27, 2016 to a sold out crowd at the Dragonfly in Los Angeles. Biography Hajjar was born in Beirut, Lebanon. His family fled Lebanon during the Civil War, moving to the United States and settling in El Paso, Texas. When Hajjar was fourteen his mother died from cancer and his father, who had been distant, left the family. Paul Hinojos
Pablo J. Hinojos-Gonzalez (born July 17, 1975), also known as Paul Hinojos, is an American musician best known as the bass guitarist for At the Drive-In, and former touring member of The Mars Volta. He is also a former guitarist of Sparta. Biography Hinojos was born in Los Angeles. He met future bandmate Omar Rodríguez-López at the age of 13 in El Paso, Texas and apparently introduced Omar to another close friend and collaborator Cedric Bixler-Zavala. Rodriguez-Lopez and Bixler-Zavala would later ask him to join At the Drive-In after some significant member changes in 1996, making him a part of the band's most successful and well-known line up. Cedric Bixler-Zavala (born November 4, 1974) is an American musician. He has been the lead singer and lyricist of the progressive rock band the Mars Volta since its inception in 2001. He was the lead singer and only constant member of the post-hardcore group At the Drive-In, the lead singer of the band Antemasque, and singer and guitarist in the band Zavalaz. Damon Locks is an American musician, visual artist, and educator, best known for being the lead vocalist of the post-hardcore band Trenchmouth, a member of Exploding Star Orchestra, and cofounding Black Monument Ensemble.
