Tonight, Tonight, Tonight
"Tonight, Tonight, Tonight" is the second track on the 1986 album '' Invisible Touch'' by the English rock band Genesis, released in January 1987 as the fourth single from the album. It peaked at No. 3 in the US and No. 18 in the UK. Background and composition In a documentary on the making of ''Invisible Touch'', Phil Collins revealed that the song originated from a LinnDrum pattern he created. Tony Banks added an ominous chord progression, establishing the song's dark tone and inspiring its lyrics, which depict a drug addict’s struggle to contact their dealer for another fix. The lyrics explore themes of addiction ("a load on your back that you can't see," "shake it loose"), desperation ("I've got to get it to you," "I keep calling but you're never home"), and eventual anguish ("now I'm in too deep," "please get me out of here!") . Collins intensified the emotional climax with dramatic drum fills featuring his signature gated reverb. The album version extends to nearly ...

No Jacket Required
''No Jacket Required'' is the third solo studio album by English drummer and singer-songwriter Phil Collins. It was released on 18 February 1985 by Virgin Records in the UK and by Atlantic and WEA internationally. After finishing touring commitments with Genesis and working with Eric Clapton in 1984, Collins resumed his solo career and started work on a new album. He made a conscious decision to write more uptempo and dance-oriented songs, as much of his previous material was influenced by matters surrounding his first divorce. The album features Helen Terry, Peter Gabriel, and Sting as guest backing vocalists. Some songs, like " Don't Lose My Number" and "Sussudio", were based around improvisation, and others, like "Long Long Way to Go", had a political message. ''No Jacket Required'' was received favourably by the majority of critics and was a huge worldwide commercial success, reaching number one in the UK for five consecutive weeks and for seven non-consecutive weeks in t ...

Mama (Genesis Song)
"Mama" is a song by the English rock band Genesis, released as the first single in 1983 from their self-titled album. It is recognisable for its harsh drum machine introduction composed by Mike Rutherford, which leads into minimalist synthesizer lines in a minor tonality and finally Phil Collins' reverb-laden voice. It remains the band's most successful single in the UK, peaking at No. 4 on the UK singles chart. It also made the top 10 in Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Ireland and the Netherlands. It was less popular in the US, only reaching No. 73 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. A 1992 re-release of the single managed to reach the Top 40 in Germany. Theme The song's theme involves a young man's longing for a particular prostitute. On the DVD ''The Genesis Songbook'', the band and producer Hugh Padgham revealed that the inspiration for Collins' menacing laugh came from rap music pioneer Grandmaster Flash's song " The Message".
