International Institute Of Social Studies
The International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam is an independent international graduate school of policy-oriented social science. ISS was established in 1952 by Dutch universities and the Netherlands Ministry of Education. The ISS is located in The Hague, Netherlands. Between 300 and 400 students are enrolled in the ISS programmes, mostly in the Master and PhD programme in Development Studies. The students come from over 150 countries. In addition to its educational work and research, ISS is active in advisory work and institutional capacity building projects. History ISS was founded in 1952 by the Dutch government to assist in the training and further education of professionals, especially, but not only, from developing countries. Samuel Kofi Woods
Samuel Kofi Woods (born May 1, 1964) is a Liberian human rights activist, journalist, politician and academic. In 1994, he founded the Forefront Organization, which documented human rights abuses during the Second Liberian Civil War. Biography Woods was born in Monrovia on May 1, 1964. He was one of twenty children. Woods has worked tirelessly in the field of human rights and has been vigilant in exposing child labor practices and injustice throughout Liberia. Active even while a student, he was first arrested in 1981. During the Liberian civil war in 1989 Woods escaped to Ghana, but returned to Liberia in 1991 and founded a human rights organization, the Catholic Justice and Peace Commission. Raqiya Haji Dualeh Abdalla (, ) is a Somali sociologist and politician. She has held a number of senior policy-making posts in governmental, non-governmental and international institutions, including as Vice Minister of Health of Somalia. She was also a founding member of the Somali Women's Democratic Organization (SWDO), serving as the group's Acting Chairperson and Vice President. Rafael Pardo Rueda (born 26 November 1953) is a Colombian politician. A Liberal party politician and economist, he has previously served as the 1st Minister of Labour of Colombia serving in the Administration of President Juan Manuel Santos Calderón, Minister of National Defence, and was elected Senator of Colombia for the 2002-2006 legislative period. Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong
Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong (born in Tema), is a Ghanaian female legal practitioner, a former Attorney General of Ghana, Attorney General of Ghana and Minister for Justice. She was appointed by John Dramani Mahama, President Mahama in 2013. She is the second woman to hold this office in Ghana, the first being Betty Mould-Iddrisu.
