International Cricket In 2016–17
The 2016–2017 international cricket season was from September 2016 to April 2017. During this period, 41 Test matches, 87 One Day Internationals (ODIs), 43 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), 4 first class matches, 16 List A matches, 41 Women's One Day Internationals (WODIs), and 15 Women's Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is) were played. Of the 41 Test matches that took place in this season, 3 were day/night Test matches. The season started with Pakistan leading the Test cricket rankings, Australia leading the ODI rankings, New Zealand leading the Twenty20 rankings, and Australia women leading the Women's rankings. 2016–17 Zimbabwe Tri-Series
The 2016–17 Zimbabwe Tri-Series was a One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament that was held in Zimbabwe in November 2016. It was a tri-nation series between the national representative cricket teams of Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and the West Indies. The Sri Lankan team were originally scheduled to tour Zimbabwe for two Tests, three ODIs and one Twenty20 International (T20I). However, the ODIs and T20I were replaced by this tri-series. DRS technology was used for the first time in a limited-overs series in Zimbabwe. This follows its use in the second Test in Zimbabwe's series against Sri Lanka that immediately preceded the tri-series. Sri Lanka won the tournament by beating Zimbabwe by 6 wickets in the final. Bangladeshi Cricket Team In India In 2016–17
The Bangladesh cricket team toured India in February 2017 to play one Test match. It was the first time that Bangladesh toured India. Initially the tour was scheduled to take place in August 2016, but with other commitments made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said that the first week of February looked more likely. The date of the Test was confirmed in August 2016. In January 2017 the BCCI moved the date back by one day. The Decision Review System (DRS) was used in the Test match. The Australian cricket team toured New Zealand in January and February 2017 to play three One Day Internationals (ODIs). Australia's captain Steve Smith was ruled out of series after suffering an ankle injury in the final ODI against Pakistan. Matthew Wade was named as Australia's captain in Smith's place and Sam Heazlett was added to the squad as Smith's replacement. However, Wade was ruled out of the first match with a back complaint and Aaron Finch took over as captain. The Chappell–Hadlee Trophy in cricket is a One Day International & Twenty20 International cricket series between Australia and New Zealand. It is named after legendary cricketing families from the two countries: the Chappell brothers ( Ian, Gregory, and Trevor) of Australia, and Walter Hadlee and his three sons ( Barry, Dayle and Sir Richard) of New Zealand. Australia have recorded eight series wins to New Zealand's four.
