Insurgent
An insurgency is a violent, armed rebellion by small, lightly armed bands who practice guerrilla warfare against a larger authority. The key descriptive feature of insurgency is its asymmetric nature: small irregular forces face a large, well-equipped, regular military force state adversary. Due to this asymmetry, insurgents avoid large-scale direct battles, opting instead to blend in with the civilian population (often in rural areas) where they gradually expand territorial control and military forces. Insurgency frequently hinges on control of and collaboration with local populations. An insurgency can be fought via counter-insurgency warfare, as well as other political, economic and social actions of various kinds. Avenida De Los Insurgentes
Avenida de los Insurgentes (), sometimes known simply as Insurgentes, is the longest avenue in Mexico City, with a length of on a north-south axis across the city. Insurgentes has its origins in what was during the early 20th century known as the Via del Centenario which ran from city centre to the southern suburbs. Many decades later, after it was paved and widened, its name was changed to Avenida de los Insurgentes, apparently happening during the administration of President Miguel Alemán, when the area attracted wealthy urbanites for sophisticated, modern housing. The avenue was named after the Insurgent Army (''Ejército de los Insurgentes'') that fought for Mexican independence from Spain during the Mexican War of Independence from 1810 to 1821. Insurgentes Metro Station
Insurgentes is an under-reconstruction station on the Line 1 of Mexico City Metro. It is located within the Glorieta de los Insurgentes at the intersection of Avenida de los Insurgentes and Avenida Chapultepec in Mexico City's Cuauhtémoc borough, close to the Zona Rosa shopping and entertainment district and the Colonia Roma, two of the most iconic neighborhoods in the city. In 2019, the station had an average ridership of 65,134 passengers per day, making it the 12th busiest station in the network. From November 2023 to April 2025, the station remained closed for modernization work on the tunnel and the line's technical equipment. Insurgentes Sur is a station on Line 12 of the Mexico City Metro. The station is located between Mixcoac and Hospital 20 de Noviembre. It was opened on 30 October 2012 as part of the first stretch of Line 12 between Mixcoac and Tláhuac. It is built underground. Teatro de los Insurgentes () is a Theater (structure), theater located on Mexico City's Avenida de los Insurgentes. Opened in 1953, the theater seats 959 spectators. History The construction of Teatro de los Insurgentes was funded by José María Dávila in 1953 as part of President of Mexico, President Miguel Alemán Valdés, Miguel Alemán's program of urban renewal. Architect Alejandro Prieto, chosen by Dávila, was in charge of designing the theater. Dávila commissioned muralist Diego Rivera to paint ''La historia del teatro'', a visual history of the theatre in Mexico on the building's façade. The Marxism, Marxist artist placed the character of Cantinflas in the center of the mural in the form of a Robin Hood figure, distributing the wealth of the rich to the poor. ''Insurgentes'' is the debut full-length solo album released by United Kingdom, British musician and record producer Steven Wilson, known for being the founder and frontman of progressive rock band Porcupine Tree. The album was recorded all over the world in studios from Mexico City to Japan and Israel, between January and August 2008, and released in November 2008 as a special deluxe multi disc mail order version, with retail release to follow in February 2009.Kscope
