Institut Saint-Luc (Liège)
The Institut Saint-Luc () is an arts school in Brussels, Belgium. It consists of six departments, with a total of 2,200 students and 430 employees, spread over five locations in Ixelles and Saint-Gilles. History The school was founded by members of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, a French order created in 1680 by Jean-Baptiste de la Salle in France. Different Saint-Luc institutes were founded all over Belgium with the first in Ghent in 1863. The first school in Brussels was founded in 1882 in Molenbeek and then was later relocated to Schaerbeek in 1887. Work began in 1904 for a new institute in Saint-Gilles, then called the Institut Jean Béthune, and had only 14 students. Construction finished four years later in 1908. The location is currently still in use and underwent renovations and expansions in 1995. François Schuiten
François Schuiten (; born 26 April 1956) is a Franco-Belgian comics, Belgian comic book artist. He is best known for drawing the series ''Les Cités Obscures''. ''Vice'' (stylized in all caps) is a Canadian-American magazine focused on lifestyle, arts, culture, and news/politics. It was founded in 1994 in Montreal as an alternative punk magazine, and its founders later launched the youth media company Vice Media, which consists of divisions including the printed magazine as well as a website, broadcast news unit, a film production company, a record label, and a publishing imprint. Boris Kor Tom Zeebroek (born in 1985) is a Belgian musician, known by the stage name Bolis Pupul. He is best known for his collaborative work with Charlotte Adigéry, and particularly for their debut album '' Topical Dancer''. His solo debut album, '' Letter to Yu'', was released on 8 March 2024. Zeebroek was born in Belgium and raised in Ghent by a Belgian father, the cartoonist Kamagurka, and a Hong Kong-born Chinese mother. Benoît Poelvoorde (, ; born 22 September 1964) is a Belgian actor and comedian. Early life His mother was a grocer and his father a driver, who died when Poelvoorde was still a minor. Guy Peellaert (6 April 1934 – 17 November 2008) was a Belgian artist, painter, illustrator, comic artist and photographer, most famous for the book ''Rock Dreams'', and his album covers for rock artists like David Bowie (''Diamond Dogs'') and the Rolling Stones (''It's Only Rock 'n Roll''). Midam
Michel Ledent (born 16 May 1963), known by the pseudonym Midam, is a Belgian comics author, best known for '' Kid Paddle''. Biography Michel Ledent was born in Etterbeek near Brussels in 1963. He studied illustration and interior decoration at the Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels, and started creating comics in 1989 for the computer magazine ''Micro-Systèmes''. Under the pseudonym Midam, he joined '' Spirou'' magazine in 1992 as an illustrator for the videogames section. The character he created there, '' Kid Paddle'', soon got its own series, which became very popular, with over 4 million copies sold in French. Xavier Lust is a Belgian furniture designer and sculptor based in Brussels. He is best known for the unique technique of shaping metal that he uses to make furniture. The simple and original shapes created by folding and curving metal sheets without a mould have become his work signature. He has collaborated with several furniture manufacturers including MDF Italia, Driade, De Padova, CerrutiBaleri, Kristalia, Fiam and Extremis. Philippe Lafontaine
Philippe Lafontaine (born 24 May 1955) is a Belgian singer and composer. Biography Lafontaine was born in Gosselies, Belgium. He spent a short time in a Jesuit college that he left at 17 to pursue a career in music. His first successes came from the writing and recording of jingles for television commercials, including Stella Artois and Coca-Cola.
