Uusimaa

Raseborg Sub-region
Raseborg sub-region is a subdivision of Uusimaa and one of the sub-regions of Finland since 2009. The main tourist attraction of the region, but also one of the Top 10 Visitors Attractions in Finland is the Raseborg Castle (Raaseporin Linna). It is supposed that the castle was built by the royal council leader of Magnus IV of Sweden in 1370, and underwent continuous developments up to the 16th century. Raseborg Castle was designed to defend the then Swedish territory of Southern Finland. It would also go on to be the focal point of clashes with the Danes as well as pirates. For the time being, visitors to Raseborg Castle can look at its restored outer wall as well as its other ruins, such as wooden barrier which in the past encircled the castle, stopping entrance to the harbour to foreign ships. Degerby
Degerby is a former Finnish municipality located in Uusimaa region in Finland. Degerby was founded in 1867 after it gained its independence from the municipality of Ingå. The municipality ceased to exist in 1945 after major part of it became a part of the Soviet naval base Porkkala. In 1940 there were 1 490 people living in Degerby with majority of people speaking Swedish as their mother tongue. The church village of Degerby, which was also the administrative centre of the municipality, is listed as a Built cultural heritage site of national significance by the Finnish Heritage Agency. The neighbouring municipalities of Degerby were Siuntio and Ingå. Nowadays Degerby is part of the municipality of Ingå. Karis (; ) is a town and former municipality in Finland. On January 1, 2009, it was consolidated with Ekenäs and Pohja to form the new municipality of Raseborg (). The Finns Party ( , PS; , Sannf), formerly known as the True Finns, is a right-wing populist political party in Finland. It was founded in 1995 following the dissolution of the Finnish Rural Party. The party achieved its electoral breakthrough in the 2011 Finnish parliamentary election, when it won 19.1% of votes, becoming the third largest party in the Parliament of Finland.
