Ingus Jakovičs
Ingus Jakovičs (born 18 April 1993) is a Latvian professional basketball player, currently a guard for Básquet Coruña of the Liga ACB. He is also a member of the Latvian national team. Professional career Jakovičs started playing basketball for BK Gulbenes Buki in Latvian Basketball League 2nd division. In 2010, he spent a season with BAA Riga, which was a youth team that played in LBL D2. A year later he moved to BK Liepājas Lauvas where he played until the end of the 2013 when his contract was bought out by VEF Rīga. On 3 January 2014 he signed with VEF Rīga until the end of 2015–16 season. Madona
Madona (; ) is a town with town rights in the Vidzeme region of Latvia and is the center of the Madona municipality. History The surrounding area of Madona had been populated in earlier times, which is confirmed by discoveries of old burial grounds in the city's vicinity. Madona is first mentioned in writing in 1461, when Archbishop Sylvester began renting the lands of Birži Manor. However, the Swedish government placed the land under state control. After the Great Northern War, Madona became property of the Russian Empire. Empress Elizabeth presented Birži Manor along with other of Vidzeme's manors to Count Alexander Buturlin. Empress Catherine II bought the lands back as a present to the Serbian-born General Maxim Zorić. The Latvian Basketball League (LBL; ) also known as the '' Pafbet'' LBL for sponsorship reasons, is the top-level national basketball championship in Latvia composed of 6 teams. Since 2018/19, only the playoff matches are played, as the top Latvian clubs play the regular season in the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League.
