Indie Megabooth
The Indie Megabooth is a section at game expositions, legally incorporated under the name Indie Megacorp, Corp, dedicated to the display and promotion of indie games. It launched at PAX East 2012 and continued to only appear at PAX events before expanding to other shows including the Eurogamer Expo, Electronic Entertainment Expo, Game Developers Conference, and Gamescom. It was founded by Kelly Wallick, who became the booth's full-time organizer in 2013. After a brief hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indie Megabooth organizers announced their return in 2023. As of 2024, the Indie Megabooth has not announced what their next event will be. According to scholars, the Indie Megabooth has helped to shape video game culture and the industry as a cultural intermediary. PubMed Central (PMC) is a free digital repository that archives open access full-text scholarly articles that have been published in biomedical and life sciences journals. As one of the major research databases developed by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), PubMed Central is more than a document repository. An International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) is an eight-digit to uniquely identify a periodical publication (periodical), such as a magazine. The ISSN is especially helpful in distinguishing between serials with the same title. A digital object identifier (DOI) is a persistent identifier or handle used to uniquely identify various objects, standardized by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). DOIs are an implementation of the Handle System; they also fit within the URI system (Uniform Resource Identifier). They are widely used to identify academic, professional, and government information, such as journal articles, research reports, data sets, and official publications. Summer Game Fest
Summer Game Fest is a live video game event organized and hosted by game journalist Geoff Keighley. The event takes place annually over multiple live streams during the North American summer period, the most notable of which is the "main show" which usually airs on the first day of the event and showcases upcoming major releases. The "main show" is usually then followed by multiple streams over the next few days from other publishers or groups, such as an Xbox Game Studios showcase or "Day of the Devs" featuring several indie games. EGX (expo)
EGX (previously named Eurogamer Expo) is trade fair for video games organised by ReedPop (and previously Gamer Network), and held annually in the United Kingdom. History The first Eurogamer Expo took place at the Old Truman Brewery as part of the London Games Festival 2008 and was attended by 4,000 people. In 2009, the show took place at The Royal Armouries in Leeds and the Old Billingsgate Market in London at the end of October. Gamescom (stylized as ''gamescom'') is a trade fair for video games held annually at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Gamescom is the world's largest gaming event, with 370,000 visitors and 1,037 exhibitors from 56 countries attending the event in 2018. The event is used by many video game developers to exhibit upcoming games and game-related hardware. Indie Games
An indie video game or indie game (short for independent video game) is a video game created by individuals or smaller development teams without the financial and technical support of a large Video game publisher, game publisher, in contrast to most AAA (video game industry), "AAA" (triple-A) games. Because of their independence and freedom to develop, indie games often focus on innovation, experimental gameplay, and taking risks not usually afforded in AAA games.
